I wonder if that is working as intended

Fix penalty system and safety rating systemā€¦.!!!
I was safety A and skill 4999
I did a Gt 2 race at Lemansā€¦
I got a warning for giving a very light tap in the braking zone and got a track penalty 0.8 for cutting 1 mm off track in the last chicaneā€¦where I held back for not getting a penalty sow I lost about 1.5sec on the car behind and still got the penaltyā€¦.sow after the race I when to look up my safety rating and fondā€¦.
Now i got safety E and skill 4998
After shutting down the game and restarting it is my safety still
E but my skill is back to 4999ā€¦.!!!
How the ā€¦. is this possibleā€¦???
Skill I getā€¦but my safetyā€¦???
Why is a game that was 6 years in the making and now more then 1 year old still have sow many problemsā€¦specially in the penalty systemā€¦???
Why is it so hard to fix this problem ones and for allā€¦.???

They need to stop dropping the safety rating for one incident. How does that make any sense? Punishing people for things out of their control. This canā€™t be that hard to do.

Yes but how can I go from A to E when I just got a warning for that tapā€¦???
This make totally no sense at allā€¦.???

I think they take your average of 20 races, which definitely is not enough to get an accurate safety rating, and have people in their appropriate lobbies. Speaking for myself, I know I can jump from S-A to B-C and back up within a handful of races. Thatā€™s just not acceptable imo.

iRacing for example takes the lifetime of your account. It can take months to work your way to the top skill rated lobbies. The people that do take the time to work hard at safety rating, generally are good sport drivers. So there is no need for all this crazy ghosting stuff. The people that donā€™t care will stay in the bottom and do their demo derby. Or they can work at getting clean and move up.

I want to have good racing, not ghosting because they canā€™t assign appropriate safety ratings.

I donā€™t think they take 20 races or sowā€¦
Safety rating is updated after every raceā€¦
If you have a bad race go and look on your safety ratingā€¦
Your dropped immediatelyā€¦!!!
And if they would take the last 20 racesā€¦I did not drive that bad in my last 20 races to drop from A to Eā€¦

That is what the company publicly claimed, but that doesnā€™t appear to be how itā€™s played out in my experience.

If my safety rating was based on an average over 20 races, it would never drop because I very rarely receive collision penalties.

ā€¦But on the very rare occasions when Iā€™ve received even small collision penalties, my safety rating immediately dropped, and it took multiple subsequent races without penalties to bring my safety rating back up.

Iā€™m no statistician, but that doesnā€™t seem like the way averages work.

Maybe the active player population is too low for ratings to matter in matchmaking.
Lately, it seems like more of the lobbies Iā€™ve been in have bigger differences in skill & sportsmanship across players.
ā€¦And I often see the same penalized rammers across multiple lobbies, which seems to indicate that their lower safety rating was not a factor in matchmaking repeatedly putting us in the same lobbies.

Thatā€™s why I think additional measures (like automatic ghosting) are needed - because when the player population isnā€™t large enough, the game canā€™t separate the safer drivers from the unsafe ones (or else lobbies for safe drivers would be even more empty).

The Daytona DQ is a bug seemingly caused by going off track just as you cross the start line. Easily done of course when trying to launch from a standing start on a bank. The type of thing that should have been fixed near immediately but remains several months after Daytona was added.

Safety rating definitely does not just take into account collision penalties. It might give them more weight but I regularly drop safety rating just for off-track penalties.

If it is averaged over 20 races, I suspect it is weighted in favour of more recent races in some way. One 4 second penalty seems to drop you a rating no matter how many races you were clean beforehand. However, you can regain it with a couple of clean races despite the fact that race would still be within your 20.

Just echoing what they reported as well. I donā€™t think itā€™s accurate either, like I mentioned I can go from A class to C class in a single race. I agree that something isnā€™t right there but either way they need to take a much much longer time scale into account for getting safety ratings.

The reason we see such a mix of drivers in lobbies is because just as easy as it was for you to drop, itā€™s also just as easy for them to go up. So one or two clean races can have a D or E class driver back up to B or C (which goes back to general match making at that point). And probably some of what you mentioned about a lack of players to fill lobbies based soley on safety.

Let it be the average of 100 races, or more. That will get the correct safety rating for a driver, not just based on how they felt like driving in the last race or two. Why itā€™s so sensitive is beyond me and makes no sense.

Iā€™m not against ghosting, but Iā€™d rather they fix penalties, get proper match making, so that we donā€™t have to ghost contact. It is taking out a huge part of racing and thatā€™s the mistakes that we make. Avoiding wrecks, making a clean pass, well it doesnā€™t really matter anymore when everyone is ghost. So letā€™s just abandon race craft all together.

Maybe not the popular opinion but Iā€™d rather have smaller lobbies filled with people who want good tight racing and understand that there will be small contact without losing their minds and ramming you off the track lol. VS a full lobby half full with crazed drivers.

We all want the same thing, just some good olā€™ racing.

I donā€™t understand why developers waste time trying to fix a system that is broken and will never work. The promises of improvement with every update dissipate as soon as you play a few races.
No one wants to play a game that penalizes you unfairly or for making mistakes, and by mistakes I mean going off track, losing time and being penalized for ā€œgaining timeā€.

Please change the penalty system completely or this game will continue to decline no matter how much new content you put in.

Forza Motorsport 8 giving penaltys for a accident that werenā€™t my fault

Yes, the joys of automated systems and racing chaos! Let me give you a bit of insight into what might have happened here.

So, picture me cruising along on the left side of the track, minding my own business, dreaming of podium glory (not quite). Suddenly, out of nowhere, another driver yeets across from the right side like theyā€™re auditioning for a Fast and Furious pit-stop montage. BAM! They clip me, and next thing you know, Iā€™m doing an unintended impression of a spinning top.

Now, why did we both get penalized? Hereā€™s my theory: The Forza Race Regulations (FRR) system is like a strict-but-clueless referee at a soccer match: it sees contact and goes, ā€œYouā€™re both guilty, no arguing!ā€ It doesnā€™t always understand the context, like who was holding their line versus who was being a wannabe stunt driver.

In reality, the other driverā€™s late and reckless pit entry caused the incident, but the FRR logic probably flagged my proximity to the pit lane and assumed I was somehow blocking their divine right to cross six lanes of traffic. Unfair? Sure. But hey, at least Iā€™ve got this forum thread to set the record straight!

The FRR system saw the contact and penalized us both, but I was just the innocent bystander in this NASCAR-gone-wild moment. Thanks for bringing attention to this! Letā€™s hope Turn 10 Studios fine-tunes the system in the future, because currently, itā€™s crap.

Got a penalty tonight for going through a fully ghosted car, that was going to the pits. I was to into the moment to try to pause and record what happened, then go back racing. Shame you canā€™t save replays as evidence bc there not accurate either. :expressionless:

I keep getting penalized when cars swerve into me in featured multiplayer (PC/Steam):

Are these drivers intentionally turning off their radar?

I had a similar experience yesterday where a driver abruptly changed lanes, causing a collision, and I was the one penalized.

Iā€™m using machine translation, so please excuse me if there are any mistakes.

I think it is ridiculous that someone can pit you on an oval.
They get like .20 or .40 and your race is essentially over.

This system is pure garbage.
