In anticipation for Forza 6 I have bought myself a new Fanatec setup (V2 wheel base). I’m still waiting on my xbox one wheel hub. But in the mean time something just occurred to me and I’m curious as to what you other Fanatec Xbox One users are doing. How do you use a headset since there is no headset port in the Fanatec wheel base? Am I suppose to have my wheel on, and then also turn on a separate controller to use my headset for chat? Seems kind of strange, and won’t my controller just turn off by itself after a little while of no use? Is there any wireless headset device available that doesn’t plug into a controller and instead works off a USB port or something?
Any insight would be helpful.
Here is something else to think about if you want. Wear your headphones and mute your stereo of TV, and use Kinect for your chat. Biggest issue is that if anyone else is in the room the other end will hear every noise though but if alone very comfortable.
Turtle beach has wireless headphones now. Check out their website. Goes in to usb I believe.
I’ve read of some people using the kinect for chat, so I suppose that is an option I could go with. Thanks for the suggestion Dan the Dartman. Although I bought the xbox one version that didn’t come with a kinect, glad to know there are options at least.
Rockefelluh, you also seem to be correct, I didn’t realize Turtle beach had some headsets that didn’t require that adapter that plugs into a controller. I might end up going that route, but I’ll do a little more research first.
Thanks for the suggestions!
Hey MrPink
You can just use a second controller for the mic. I never use kinect due to the ambient noise. There is also a usb input on the hub that you can plug your controller, etc into to save battery. Otherwise as others mentioned bluetooth headsets.
P.s Congrats you will love the new gear !
I have the Turtle Beach 800X headphones, and although I’m not an audiophile, I prefer racing wearing these because it’s better than my TV by a country mile! Pricey, but I think worth the investment, and built-in wireless chat.

I have to second that on the 800x. I have the very first model which are the 500x and absolutely love them. If both of those are out of price range, TB just announced the 420x headset that is completely wireless as well. It major difference is the 420x is stereo, while the 500x and 800x are both surround sound.
I took your guys advice and bought the 800X’s. I had my old turtle beach’s that I used on my 360, and I loved those things so I figured it was a good time for an upgrade.
They are exactly what I was looking for! Absolutely no wires to deal with, no second controller to hook up, they should work perfect. Thanks again for all the suggestions!
Wheel hub should be here today, so I’ll have Project cars and the Forza demo to hold me over until the 10th.
I am happy it all worked out good for you, happy racing!!!
