Yes … AI can and will use any of your designs in game. And … it doesn’t matter if your designs are shared or not … they can still be used even if they’re incomplete and you may not want them to be used.
I’ve seen this written before Wildcat but I’ve always wondered if it was true or not because I’ve never read it officially confirmed by any T10/PG staff.
I was under the impression that just the designs people had downloaded would show up on any of the corresponding AI cars & that only the designs I chose to run in any given race would show if my driveatar was in someone else’s race.
I’ve personally never seen any unfinished designs or what looks like a WIP layout on any AI car before & to be honest it wouldn’t make a lot of sense to have that type of system in place… that’s not to say it isn’t the case though!
I don’t share every design I create. I currently have a design that was allowed in FM6 but banned in Horizon 3 and FM7 which I’ve decided to keep to myself from now on. It’s specific to one particular car so only gets run every now & then. I’d be interested to know where I’d stand if the Game arbitrarily decided to use this design in a race & it then got reported by some sensitive soul… or if that is even possible from the post race menu???
Any pointers to any official info would be appreciated.
Hey Midnyte. No, I’ve never heard an official confirmation from T10 or PG devs about this … or actually even heard it discussed by them. The reason that I said it in my post above is because I’ve seen it with my own eyes with one of my own designs. And maybe I need to clarify what was meant by ‘AI’ cars above. I was at a friends house playing on his XBox … using his profile in his game … and saw my drivatar in a race with my buddy and the car that my drivatar was using had an incomplete paint from my design library that I had never shared. I was shocked to see this and didn’t expect to see it since I believed it worked like you do … where only shared designs could show up. I was so surprised by this that I double-checked when I got home and sure enough, that design was private and I am 100% confident that it had never been shared when I saw it in the game.
Now … that’s the only time that I’ve ever seen that happen. And in thinking further about it, if that was something that happened regularly, then I would imagine that we would see it a lot more often. So, perhaps what I saw was only a one-time glitch or bug or something and was something that shouldn’t have happened.
Well you can’t beat someone actually seeing it for themselves so I’ll go with that - although I’d like to think it was a rarity too. I bet it was a bit of a surprise though, LoL
Cheers for the info Wildcat, much appreciated mate
