Eddy's gallery - March 25

Hey, this is my first set of photos where l really put more effort into the shots and sliders. l’m still just learning – your critique and advice is very welcome.

This great livery is by HazeMatee

And a final oddball:

Awesome!

Also really liking this one

Thanks Korniis! The vertical BRZ and that blacktop pic are my personal favourites from these.

Edit: l broke the link to the Blacktop image. Korniis had quoted it in his post there.

Two more shots from today:

Lovely work Eddy. The shot looking up at the sun is great.

If I were to suggest one thing, I’d say to use a bit more aperture to really make your focal point pop out.

If you look here , you can see the difference a bit of aperture makes.

Keep it up though, that’s a great start!

Very cool!

Thanks Marshall! Thanks 'Viper!

l’ve been too cautious with aperture worrying l’ll overdo it. l’ll keep practising!

Aperture is one of those effects that can both make and break a picture. Depending on the scenery, I usually have it between 20 & 35.

And somehow I missed the Urus shots yesterday - that second one is superb!

More shots from today:

This is great

+1!

Thanks guys!!

One more left out from yesterday.

Got up close and personal with my Black Friday purchase.

l could really do with some advice on my shooting.

These all turned out a bit colourless. And looking at them now l maybe should’ve just stuck with the heavier aperture l was trying on my tv.

First shot is really nice. I just thing you maybe should have gotten some of the back of the car in the shot. Its nice and I really like it, but my eyes want to see an end to the car. Unlike in the second shot my eyes know that there is more car but they are not looking for it as the cutoff is a bit more understandable. The third shot again even if you only put just to the very edge of the car in the shot but make sure you either find a visually appealing place to cutoff the car or you put the whole car in the shot. And by the whole car I mean left to right not actually the whole car. Cutting it off in the middle of the light like that just makes for a weird cutoff place.

As for the lighting. You do have to change the setting for facing the sun and then having the sun to your back. The first shot has a nice setting to capture a car. but the last shot (unless you are tying for that look) looks like a flimsy plastic feel to it. Almost toy like. Very different from shot 1 and 2. But its just messing with the settings one at a time taking a shot, saving it, then going to your computer and looking at it. I always have my computer open and ready when I shot a car just to see if the transfer from t to computer is good. I don’t move my settings and then I just make adjustments as I want to make the shot right saving over the old file as I go. (I hate the limited space thing)

Thanks Brokenvegetable! Now that l look at the photos with your words in mind the first and last do look off. For shot 1 l had thought maybe l’d try something different so l zoomed the car a bit in like that. lt might’ve worked best just leaving the whole car in.
With shot 3 l was really struggling with the alignment. l started it out completely zoomed into the intake vent and then took a peek back and decided l want more car in view. l started with just the passanger-side light included but it looked off to me like the car was mutated somehow. Now l understand l must’ve been what you just told me that l was expecting to see more of the car. Putting the whole of the car’s front in made me think it’s just another “front of the car” shot. l ended up thinking maybe having part of the other light as reference point would suffice but it does look like a poorly cropped image.
Very good insight for me take along to think about what do l want to see as the viewer.

l haven’t realized to consider the sun as more than a general light setting and nasty creator of shadows. l now understand of course it also affects how much light goes to which side of the objects. l’ll take this along with me as well.

Thanks a lot again this was very helpful to me!

The first shot does it for me, nice work!

l’m glad to hear that Korniis!

Tried for a “Back when Pa’ was building our house in the 50’s” -shot.

^^^ Love it!
The sunlight through the forest is spectacular too.

Totally agree! That shot was awesome.

Thank you Sergi! I’m happy to hear.

Always been a Gallardo guy when it comes to Lambos.
Once again all feedback is appreciated to help me grow.
