Question, is the driver (drivatars) weight taken into account when racing or is it not factored into equation. If it is taken into account, the follow up question will be does the female driver weigh less than the male drive? Just curious, that’s all.
Thanks for the answer ManteoMax! I think as a racing sim it should factoring in driver weight. I have to find out if the other racing sims such as PC factor this in or not.
For future releases in the Forza Series you have to send in a personal weight certificate from y medic before purchase. You have to update this data once a quarter to validate your Forza driving license. This data will add to your Xbox profile for accurate race simulation.
Well, just kidding. But I think regarding race simulation and car accuracy, we have other tings to solve with bigger impact. But yes, for a 1000 pounds car a 130 pounds for a generic driver calculated in or not, this does make a difference …
I know “Live for speed” does. There’s an option in the tunning menus to remove the driver. Each time you click that option the driver is visually placed/removed, suspension will load/unload and the geometry changes affecting the setup. Same system for fuel.
I’m really SURPRISED FM6 does not take driver weight into consideration at all. Being the leading driving simulator on the market and with all the emphasis on tire-to-road-surface-contact this should really be factored in some how with fixed weights for male and female. I’ll add this as a game feature request.
Well for one, the image has her as smaller than the male. And if weight were a factor everyone would be better off using the female driver, for obvious reasons!!!
He said the UI shows the curb weight. The FM6 UI shows the curb weight for the 330P4 (and I’m sure others) incorrectly. As shown above, the 330P4 has gotten steadily heavier. Now, even with adding all of the parts and options that reduce weight you can’t get it near the correct weight.
Forza weight vs “correct” weight has been a controversy on the forums for a long time that never quite seems to get resolved. You would think that the “correct” weight of a car would be easy to find out but without having said car, weight can vary quite a bit and we are never told which version of a car was modeled or what the game is trying to show or how it’s changed between games.
But anyhow I was only speaking about what Dan said with regards to the OP, he wanted to know if driver’s weight was taken into account when racing, accordng to what Dan said it would seem that it does.
Maybe it ate rear quarter of GT40 for breakfast . . .
As for male/female in-game 3D driver weights, I would like to see equal in-vehicle weights for fair competition, i.e. whomever is lighter receives ballast in their car. < I’m just kidding here.
Could be, but it would be nice to at least use weight reduction to get it back down to the correct weight. As it stands, using most of the weight reduction options (excluding modern rims, Race Transmission, and additional engine parts that reduce weight), it weighs in at 2073lbs. That’s an 18% weight increase over actual. Adding every weight reduction piece possible, it is still 2026lbs, so 280lbs (16%) overweight.
Considering they have said that they modify some of the cars for parity (see above example of the 330P4) by adding weight, I wouldn’t really call this a simulator. Close, but when they purposefully modify a vehicles handling characteristics to enhance gameplay, “sim” goes out the window.
Agreed, a car’s weight changing across games doesn’t make any sense from a simulationary standpoint. It would be better to class this as a racing game than a simulator in that respect.
It’s a driving simulator, not racing game. I think I read somewhere that when FM6 was connected to a driving simulator hardware setup that included seat hydraulics for lift and yaw effects it worked perfectly without any modifications, and that’s what I’m getting that by calling FM6 rightly a driving simulator.
