I understand why some think this is the dashboard view, because the prominent thing in view is the dashboard, but in game, Forza calls this view, Driver.
Yeah mate that’s right, my original post was referring to the ‘driver’ view, as in no hands or steering wheel present on screen. For the best part this view in my opinion was implemented for wheel/seat users and therefore ideally the dashboard instruments should sit at the bottom in the centre of your TV screen. Surely that would best represent the view you would get sat in the drivers seat all be it with out the peripherals. As stated before some cars have it just right for example Porsche 935 then some have it wrong like the Bluebird Super Silouette which when set to ‘driver’ cam loses the dash instruments. Gotta say though I still love the Japanese beasty. What a car pack that was, one of the best for quite a while if you ask me.
The 1964 Ferrari F-158 from the cockpit (with steering wheel in full view) gives me the impression that I’m a 5 year old kid because I can’t see over the steering wheel.
The driver view gives me a better feel of the car. I feel like I can control it better because it’s more direct, but I’m sure that’s in my head.
It’s just practice. For online I always liked to start in third person view, because having that enhanced awareness of what’s around you really helps survive until the cards spread out a bit, and then I’d switch back to inside the car. After a while I realized I was getting around just as fast in third person and while the arrows are fine, they’re no replacement for a spotter, so I just run third person and spot for myself.
This is why I use the hood or bumper view, can’t always get on with cockp[it/driver view, plus they put a rear view mirror at the top of the screen, added for your convenience \0/
Still no field of view adjustment in the final updated version (PC)?
I was waiting for it to buy the game.
Thanks.
I’m driving in ‘driver’ -view with a Fanatec P1 steering wheel and I’ve recently come to realize that I really don’t have a way to look to my sides. Since the wheel doesn’t have a ‘right-thumbstick’, only the d-pad and you can’t re-assign the look around function from ‘right-thumbstick’ to d-pad. Which starts to be a problem while racing online because quite often I’m simply not aware of the fellow racers next to me, causing me to bump into them and seem like a total douchebag. Does anyone have a tip or idea how to remedy this? The proximity arrows aren’t that useful imo.
I was watching a replay of a race today and noticed my driver was sitting really low and close to the steering wheel in my M3 HE. I checked the seating position in some other cars and some seem to sit properly while in other cars the driver is sitting either too low or too close to the steering wheel. Is it just me or has anyone else noticed this? It’s not a huge deal but I feel like I need to get my driver a booster seat. Thanks.
