Hello,
I would like to know why during a recent race seems to have better race times?
I put the difficulty of the drivatar to unbeatable and the other simulation options so I have a CR of 125%, I am at the maximum.
I give you an example
Holyrood park with a Bentley 4-1 / 2 liter '31 I finished first and my best lap was 1: 47.062. Which I consider very good.
The last runner who finished 12th completed a lap at 1: 44.805 and the penultimate 1: 46.840.
And is it often like this that the latter succeed in making a better lap ?? weird right?
It makes me think of some games that make the last go faster so that the game remains enjoyable for the less good. Is it the same in Forza 4? even in simulation mode?
the magic rubber banding on drivatars
A few people think that cars behind you can go faster to catch up with you due to a sort of elastic band effect which is a coding technique.
Well if it is, it is not interesting in my case. If there is really an elastic band like you said there should be an option to disable it. I think I’m going to take a test. I’m going to start the same race again and put myself in 12th position to see if I can easily beat my time by 1:47
I just finished my test. Not easy to stay in 12th position in this game :). I left more than a third of the traget as distance and in 2 laps I caught up with the drivatars. I found that I couldn’t beat my time 1: 47.062. So my car does not go faster or slower it is the same whether the drivatars is in front or behind me.
On the other hand the drivatars are totally modify their best are in 1:54 when I roll in 12th position. the other day when I was driving in 1st position the last drivatar had reached 1:44.
Conclusion,
I never thought when I set the “Unbeatable” option that times would also change. I really believed in “unbeatable” mode that the drivatars did not give you much chance, frankly I am really above this option.
I think that I am no longer racing with the Drivatars or making friends in forza or simply going to play another racing game because my taste for playing has just diminished by a lot. It’s not interesting when you’re still in 1st position.
AI is just a show for you. They have some time for difficulty and then reacts to you too. If you are fast, they could be much faster than you. If you are slow, they are slower but not as difficulty says. There are some exceptions but that’s what I saw.
So I don’t care about AI because they have fixed time and strategy. If you race good enough you need to win every time.
For instance, every start AI is faster, artificial boost, and if you panic, it’s bad because it’s how it works. They will slow after some time and you can pass them easily.
I find that I come in 1st place in the Bentley 4.5L also…regardless how well I run. Try your Hollyrood experiment with other cars and other classes. 1 car on 1 track is not scientific.
Also… I’ve found that whoever runs the fastest lap is almost never the 1st place winner vs drivatars. Consistency usually wins.
The software is designed to make the race fun… you can’t really apply true science to it.
