Now that there is an update coming in Forza Motorsport 7 with drift suspension upgrades, can we expect them to be in Forza Horizon 4 as well?
Yes. As far as I know it has been confirmed that drift-suspensions are in FH4 as well
Yes, the livestream showed it in both FM7 and FH4.
Yes, Forza has informed me that we will have dirft suspension in the game. I played the demo last night and there will be possible suspension may be bagged. I am too 10 in the world please pin this somewhere on forums. Just reached lvl 1000 last night as well. Thanks
They informed you did they? Well I guess we could all say that they informed us as they have publicly confirmed that the drift suspension feature will be in FH4 multiple times over the last few weeks.
Is this a hoax? The drift suspension update dropped awhile back for fm7, there’s a drift pack for fh4 for all pre orders, why would anyone think drift suspension wouldn’t be in fh4??
I was a little worried when i played the demo because i couldn’t find the angle tuning under alignment like Forza Motorsport 7 has. Also the default drift suspension does not have the degree set to 60 so what’s the point of having the drift suspension. I’m not sure if this because it’s a demo and is going to stay like this for the final release. The formula drift car pack that was shown in the monthly showcase had a 60 degree angle so i’m hoping this demo was an early build.
Heyho,
I played the FH4 demo alot and tried different cars with the drift suspension.
I thought it would be the same as in FM7 but it feels like its only a stripped down version.
FM7 has an extra steering angle slider. Normal its set on 60° on every car
In FH4 demo it is missing and it also felt like the you gain alot less angle and every car is different
i think the drifting feels kind of weird.
Dodge Charger with drift suspension max HP and it feels like it has just enough hp to drift hard to accelerate while drift and not that much steering angle.
Subaru Wrx in FH4 demo with 950 Hp feels slow too. has not enought hp to accelerate out of the curve. steering angle about 40°~ish.
Subaru Wrx in FM7 tried to replicate it. same suspension geo but only 850hp felt complete overpowered. steering angle 60°
i know that FM7 is more about simulation and FH4 more arcade but the drifting doesnt even come close to FM7 and FH3.
Didnt anybody else notice ?
Maybe i’m doing something wrong or i’m stupid.
null
I’ve taken some time out to post this picture that i took earlier which clearly shows that the angles do work just like the Forza horizon edition cars from FH3, but the angle slider in FM7 should be a thing here as it has already been implemented. I don’t see how that’s a difficult task for them to add it in FH4. For now i’m just assuming that the demo was an earlier build so it’s currently not present, but i do hope that they add it in the final release.
yea its way different and in a bad way
I guess it’s official that there won’t be an angle tuning under the alignment section of tuning menu. Many YouTubers got an early copy of the full game and there was no angle tuning to be found which is kinda disappointing as i really loved it in the FM7. I hope the devs actually add it in the future update when the game officially releases on Oct 2nd.
Remember that there are two teams developing two different Forza games. While they do share the same core technology, they may approach some things differently, and on different development schedules. All of this advances the Forzatech engine and enables each game to deliver more cool features for players to enjoy than if one team were doing it alone.
Playground introduced a Drift Suspension upgrade to FH4 to make it easy for players to turn their cars into drift-ready cars with one upgrade. In short it is the “Race Suspension” with more lock and camber but here is a more detailed overview:
- Ride heights, spring and damper rates are all taken from race suspension
- Default ride height is set to minimum by default, so it looks lower than race suspension. Camber is increased.
- Steer angle is increased by 20%
- Most cars get 50.4°, some are less if they start with less (Hypercars, for example)
- When the car hasn’t been hand tuned to fix visual tire clipping issues, it generally allows for the visual lock to match the physics lock – like the Twerkstallion and FD cars.
- Countersteer and Straightening rates in the steering mechanic are increase to get the car to full lock and back quicker.
- The kinematic model is changed (front and rear) to more suitable models (fancy talk for suspension modeling).
- Not all cars get this upgrade, allocation is based on car type (example: track cars and race cars/trucks do not get this upgrade).
The FM7 team recently introduced a different approach to drift-ready cars, which is an angle kit upgrade that allows you to manually tune steering angle from stock to 60 degrees, but you need to do all the other modifications yourself (apply and adjust race springs and camber settings, etc.). This steering angle kit upgrade part is not in FH4 (this functionality is already built into the existing drift suspension upgrade). Playground’s car handling design team is considering the possibility of adding steering tuning options for their drift suspension upgrade that would have similar sliders to those in FM7’s steering angle kit upgrade. If they do this, it would be in a future update, not at launch.
Once again Jon Knoles comes through clearing up confusion in the community, thanks for breaking it down for us.
Thanks for the detailed information. But my point was that pulling those 60 degree angles are really satisfying and the point of having a drift suspension is to achieve that angle which a formula drift car has. But i really hope they do add it in the future update.
out of curiosity, would drift suspension be better for doing track builds? mainly for the increased potential turn angle to handle tighter corners and such?
