Dominant Cars

I use whatever I feel like using. Most of the time I’m interested in playing with cars that aren’t that competitive, but if I want to run the KTM I’ll do that too.

I agree with the d class comments its a whole lot of fun and the cars take driving with little grip I drive what I enjoy. I drive an xb falcon a lot because I own one. I know a transam or basically any American muscle car will be quicker because they actually are. It’s a whole lot of fun though taking a relatively small 351 in a pretty big car and running against the American stuff. My favourite a class car is a 95 mustang but usually I’m comfortable in most cars as long as it has blue oval with ford written on it.

I generally pick any car I fancy having a race with. Among my favourites are the Nissan GTR34, Mercedes C63 AMG Black, and the Ford Focus RS(2009).

I do and don’t have problem with LB cars.

Let’s say I hop in my a class Jeep Wagoneer, I will have goood races, close races, and I’m happy if I get to the podium.
If there is someone “Not so fast” driver with LB car fighting with me, It’s great, he can use what even he likes, just like I do.

How ever if I would jump in to Alfa 33 I would DNF the half ofthe lobby, and would be ahead of everyone else by +1500 feet… I coulld might as well go to hotlap, as soon as I get the lead, that’s exactly what I would be doing.

How ever, I’m relatively fast driver, but in this thread ther is at least 3 faster guys, and probably even more. If they would come in the lobby, and use only Alfa 33 No matter what car I would be in I wouldn’t compete. Actually, if EMW Raul, RPM Swerve, AKRA1X, or someone would join that lobby, using only that Alfa 33 No matter what car I’m in I’m struggling not to DNF. and that’s when I start having problems with them.

Yes I will handicap myself, so I could have some relatively close racing, and surprisingly no-one ever really complains, unless everyone is really slow, so even when I’m pulling out cars that are honestly really slow, as still prety much escape from the rest of the pack.

I’m not saying that they should pull out really slo cars. but please pull out cars that don’t DNF 80% of the lobby

I think most of the faster people do this as well. Whenever i see theres not much of a challenge in a lobby i take steps to challenge myself. It could be using a random car or a stock spec car or even giving the other drivers head starts. If im in a lobby with a lot of newer drivers i usually will let them win so they can make some money.

Everyone plays differently as they have a right to, but sometimes id like to see more people challenge themselves a little more. As you said if you were to use a lb car you might as well just do hot laps.

I do hope they figure out a better way of rating cars in the next installment, because im personally tired of the whole grind of only using a handful of lb cars out of 500 cars available. Many of which have been known to be overpowered game after game.

I know how they get their ratings, which is on a special test track, but with the information they gain from the leaderboards why cant they put cars in their appropriate class. If a car like the alfa is putting up s class times in a class, it should be in s. Theres many cars in this game that are just not competitive no matter what class you upgrade them to game after game and it just seems like a huge waste.

I’m not a really fast racer but there have been occasions where I’ve pulled out a slower ride to even things up a bit. I don’t mind if someone faster than me joins at the last minute and gives me a beating - there’s always the next race.

I’m all for people racing what they want so if someone really fast wants to use a ‘leaderboard car’ then they have every right to do so without fear of being criticized for it. However I think it’s a huge waste when so many cars aren’t competitive in a given class. I think Class lobby racing needs a rethink. Horsepower restrictions would be good. People would still have the choice to use some engine upgrades and choose between tire upgrades/weight reduction etc

Leagues are the ideal way to get some of these ‘uncompetitve’ cars used more and people can always use their own restrictions in private lobby racing

I’m not a fan of HP restrictions, Power to weight restrictions could possibly work.

The difference is that straight up power restriction would hinder heavier cars much more than light cars, while power to weight is just the opposite,

Driving an Alfa doesn’t assure you a victory, it takes incredible skill to maintain consistency and avoid the carnage in a hopper. All you are really doing in that car is putting yourself in the best possible position for a good result. What ever happens next is completely up to the driver.

With that being said… you can get really good results in the hoppers if you run an AWD car than launches well. You might eventually get run down by a better driver in a faster car, but if you got through the first corner before the pileup and they didn’t, you’ve got a great head start.

Yeah, that’s why I love racing my RS4 avant around the ring in A Class

That’s a good point. There are a couple of tracks where I’ll choose a different car if I’m starting up front - such as around Catalunya National - not because I want to thrash anyone but because I want to get far enough around T1 before the inevitable pile-up happens, and choosing something with great launch helps.

The game shouldn’t need HP restrictions to balance it out, that’s the whole point of the PI system - cars with equal PI should be at least roughly competitive.

That each class has a few cars that are massively OP everywhere and many cars that are nowhere near competitive anywhere, despite both sets having the same PI, suggests that the PI system isn’t as good as it should be and T10 should be trying to improve it, not adding more layers of complexity on top.

Exactly. If they arent going to fix the pi system, either more classes or sub-classes should be added. They have spent a lot of time building certain things “from the ground up”, I think its time to invest some assets to fix the pi system as well as the upgrade system which leads to alot of the op issues the game faces ie 5.7 engine swaps, rally engine swap, and centrifugal supercharger.

Yep.

Don’t forget the rev bangers.

The PI doesn’t really consider acceleration. It’s not as bad as other games, but the same building formula of acceleration over everything still applies.

We were all running rev banger Alfas in the MLG finals. Idk anyone who enjoyed that car.

I don’t care what cars people choose, but I personally can’t have fun using the same car over an over again. I usually stick to the R hoppers (or League events >= Global Touring Cars) and see a lot of players who only leave the McLaren Can-Am when a fast track comes up.

I think I found the YouTube clip you mentioned. If so the guy classes himself as a noob for using the Alfa? If that’s the one it’s a bit funny because he is stating the Alfa is op and the passing a few cars but not actually winning. The Alfa in A class had stats not to dissimilar to my 95 mustang. Some tracks in recent races it was a second or two quicker but on others slower.
Fast guys will win with most cars that are built and tuned properly. The issue I’m confronted with in hoppers isn’t leaderboard cars or unbeatable drivers ( I wish that’s all what it was), it’s people with limited race craft or ability or attitude and spoil races.
Online racing can be really fun with the right people but it’s like finding a four leaf clover to get a good fair and evenly matched lobby.
If you don’t like cars dissapearing in the distance drive one that will keep up. It’s whatever floats your boat. If you like getting a car that’s not used much up the front then that’s ok too. Calling someone a noob because of the car they drive is simply childish. As is posting vigilante wrecking on YouTube and claiming to be a superhero.
Phew this soapbox is high…

The any car lobby does not work, it causes crashes and carnage all the time why it’s still set up like this I will never know. Public hoppers = leaderboard car lobbys if u don’t want to race leaderboard then your only option is the leagues. You simply can not rely on racers “doing the right thing” or picking the same car. These choices need to be made by turn 10.

It amazes me that anyone would expect anything else from a public hopper. Why do racers think that a public hopper is the place where you can run what ever you want. That car choice is your choice. No its not, car choice is dictated by competitiveness.

That being said I would be happy for the can ams to be banned like the classic f1’s. You would see early gt and hypercars dominate the publics which is fine by me until you get someone who is 5 seconds of the pace in a Ford escort because it’s there right to use what ever car they want causing carnage for the 17 ultimas trying to get round road america

I understand its hard to balance a 500 car roster I understand there will always be try hards using the best cars possible as in any competitive online environment the main gripe I do have however is how it feels like its similar cars being dominant from game to gamewith little changes without it seems as the alfa 33 for example was very good in 4 and I recall seeing many toping LBs in horizon another example is the 97 civic

I’ve gotten so tired of the 5.7 noise that I’ve stopped swapping that engine in. Yeah, maybe the car I’m running is slower, but at least it sounds different.

Haven’t been racing in public lobbies for quite some time. Been working a lot and working mostly on getting 100% on all three careers and 100% on all showcases Started working on getting every manufacturers affinity to max and decided to race in the multi-class lobby.
I was using cars that I didn’t have affinity complete (Eagle,Chrysler,Scion,Fiat,GMC,HSV,just to name a few). Some were decent cars, some were just ok. My point is, I had a blast running cars that I normally wouldn’t run in public lobbies because it challenged me. Don’t know if any of you know me,but I’m not the fastest racer by far. I consider myself ok.
I don’t have a problem with anyone using dominant cars,I use to but I got over it. We all payed money for this game, use whatever car that makes it fun for you. Is that not why you bought the game?if you are not enjoying the racing just because people are using LB cars, then use the same car yourself,or race with friends. Lots of options.
Ready to get back in the community again, I’ve been kind of a loner the past few months. So if anybody wants to race with me,send me a pm
