My goal was to keep it out of Class S and my Upgrades from C 595 are:
Race Brakes
Race Suspension
Race Roll Bars
Race Chassis
Race Weight Reduction
Race Clutch
Race Transmission
Race Prop Shaft
Race Diff
Race Tires w/ max width
Wheel swap
That puts the PI@796 w/o touching the engine, leaving it with stock 217hp with a weight of 2359 lbs.
To get a somewhat even comparison taking an earlier '92 Silvia which starts out at C 577, applying the same mods ends up with A 760 with 15 less HP but 200lbs less weight. That leaves quite a bit of room to give it some HP upgrades to allow it to compete in Class A. Same thing on a '93 Cobra R starting at C 574 and exact same upgrades yield A 756 with 235hp though 300lbs more weight. Again there’s quite a bit of room left to make sure it has the power to keep up with upper Class A cars. I can go on with other C class cars but lets to a comparison with a car that starts in lower A Class with the '16 M2 at A723. Naturally it can’t take all the upgrades from above but it will take Race Brakes, Suspension, Roll Bars, Clutch on max width sport tires and a wheel swap putting it at A 799 with 365 HP though 1/2 ton heavier. It still completely destroys the '98 Silva as does the before mentioned once power is added to bring it in the 799 range.
I know not all cars have ever upgraded equally but it feels like the '98 Silvia is handicapped from the start.
That’s always been a problem with the PI system, some cars being rated higher or lower than others. It’s what makes some cars truly overpowered or underpowered. I hate it because it means you can’t be truly competitive with some cars no matter what you do.
Max tire width, race clutch, flywheel, driveshaft are wastes of PI. The fatter your tires are the more contact you have with the ground but this game is very prone to under steer since everyone is pulling out AWD builds and fat tires will accentuate your under steer issues while also eating up lots of PI for no tangible gain.
I know that the older cars will take a 300 HP improvement through an engine upgrade and only pop on another 20 to 40 PI points so engine swaps and drivetrain swaps are always the first thing I check when making a new build. If it doesn’t have 900 HP it won’t keep up unfortunately. I’ve got a 40 ford deluxe coupe in D Class with 900 HP. And it handles like a garbage barge but it’s so good in straight lines the handling is next to irrelevant.
