Phil Spencer said “There isn’t a tremendous request today for racing games like Forza on PC,” here Phil Spencer's new vision for the Xbox One | Eurogamer.net
so maybe I’m reading to much into it but if people want Forza on PC we need to start showing Phil there is a larger demand then he thinks, I would link to a petition that was created back around FH2 to have it on PC and to show a large number of people are wanting Forza on PC, I would post the link but I think the mods wouldn’t like me doing that =) but the link in my signature below has the link posted there if you are curious.
Back a while ago they ported FM5 to PC to demonstrate the power of DX12 or something( they never released it =/ ) and supposedly it took little effort from two people to do the porting so maybe it’s not so far out of reach as we think, so it might be possible to have FM6 on PC and not have to wait for FM7, I think if people don’t collectively start asking for Forza on PC now because they think it’s to late in the development cycle to make it happen, we might not see Forza on PC for a long time if as all because of that way of thinking as it will diminish the willpower to keep asking.
If your talking about Phil being right not to have Forza on PC I disagree, no surprise right?
It supposedly took two people to port FM5 to PC as a DX12 demo at GDC so it can’t be that hard or cost that much, I think the benefits out-weight the cost of porting or developing it for Windows 10 as well, people might say that it might cut into Xbox One sales sure it might a little then again it might not at all because you can’t prove those people would have bought an Xbox One in the First place, or that they wont eventually buy one later or don’t already own one. if any thing it would get more people to upgrade to Windows 10 which would benefit the Xbox one because if the majority of people use Windows 10 then game devs on the PC with make games with DX12 as the primary API thus making it easier to port to Xbox One as it will use DX12 as well, doesn’t it make sense now why Microsoft is giving a free upgrade to Windows 7 and 8/8.1 users for a year?
However If their plan works it will make the Xbox One better as a result of the symbiotic relationship with Windows 10, but Microsoft really needs to get more games from that Xbox One on Widows 10 as well and not have a take and no give relationship as that’s not cool no mater how you look at it.
i would doubt it fro two reasons. one no forza has ever been on pc. two is porche. the xbo is the only place ea have given up it as exclusive, porche is still an ea exclusive on pc, ps4 and wiiu.
drift microsoft do not want to create an xbo/pc equality. its a business all about the money. they have very tight control over everything that goes on the xbox and they get a licensing fee for every game or piece of software so for xbox. they dont get a fee on widows/pc. they dont get to tell you that you can release software on pc. the pc is a very open enviroment where businesses are microsofts main source of income. the xbox is the opposite. its very closed, microsoft has full control, get a share of 100% of software sold and the primary customers are individuals. individuals dont have the incomes businesses do nor the same spending habits. you have to target them differently to maxamise profits. license fees are why console games cost more than pc games.
you could release any software you want on pc, on xbox you can only release software ms likes. i dont think you’ll be seeing porn or viruses on the xbox. click on the wrong link and they’ll be all over your win 10 pc.
I highly doubt it. Putting Forza on PC would cause Xbox sales to take a huge hit. Forza and Halo are keeping Xbox above water at the moment for many gamers. No way they would take away one of those titles’ exclusivity.
The only reason Gears Ultimate Edition is going to PC is because Gears 1 was on PC. Otherwise they would’ve ported Gears 2 and 3 to PC as well.
dust consoles are not dead. and mobile not pc is what is taking the gaming $$$. xbox is profitable for microsoft so its not going away. even nintendo which is looking to branch out from console is going to phones not pc. how you gonna play forza on a phone? you aren’t. the fine gain control isn’t there. and if its not on steam many pc players wont buy it and i cant see ms paying valve 40%. last gen ps3 tried its linux experiment to be a pc and failed miserably. many developers and publishers avoid pc to avoid piracy. they will remain 2 distinct seperate markets. consoles have their place and computers have their place. i’m assuming we all own a console and a pc, we wouldn’t if either could replace the other.
Exactly. And don’t even bring up Nintendo. If their console market dies, it is their own fault because they don’t know what they’re doing anymore. If you want me to elaborate on that issue, I will. Though I’m sure you know what I mean about them.
Microsoft partnering with RIFT has nothing to do with consoles dying either, because that is a very niche market that has no hope of replacing casual console experiences anytime soon.
Like I said before, the problem isn’t with the idea of consoles; it’s that this gen was given too weak of hardware. You can’t make a system like the Xbox One and expect it to keep up with modern games for over 3 years.
In general devs make $9 from a single game sale on the consoles, on PC they get $49 of that $60. You dont need to sell as much to make more.
You like misinformation. Valve, and any other DD service take 30%, not 40, just like MS does with any consoles sale.
Linux doesnt have the support needed, until valve comes in.
Im not going to debate what is about to happen when everthing becomes SaaS.
Both Sony and MS have to get out of hardware.
