Do you really expect a bug free game on release day?

Yes because Turn 10 have a good reputation in terms of bugs in previous games (Only Horizon 2’s stuck engine noise is one I remember most), so i expect the same quality, especially in a game where they only added one brand new and 3 old tracks. I thought when they said they were focused on PC, issues like microstutter shouldn’t even be a huge issue.

Do you really expect your car to work on day 1 when you buy it ?

And I thought the most issues stated on this forum were the huge amount of usual features missing…

The game is obviously sub-par to Tun 10 standards. FM6 and FH3 has far smoother launches.

IMO they should have waited until after the X1X is released. That way they had more than an extra month to fix the bugs and release the missing content. And all the people who will buy the X1X would experience it first hand in 4K and HDR which no doubt would have given better first impressions.

I’m glad this came up again… here’s my take.

As an aircraft mechanic… I do expect a new game to be bug free… think it’s complicated to write code? Most likely…
Think it complicated to trouble shoot and fix or build aircraft? Yes it is… if i went to work on building a 737 and decided it was so complicated that I would just “do my best” to build a plane, it might have all its parts and may or may not fly… would you ride in it?

I’m a professional… I am expected to go to work and do 100% of the job I was hired to do…

Devs are professionals as well. The get paid to write code… they should do 100% as well… to release a game with bugs at any level from any developer is just lazy… if Boeing followed these practices a lot of people would never fly and the whole industry would fail…

For all the people defending them, I wonder if when you go to work, does your boss only expect 87% of your capacity?

Edit: word.

I font expect console games to crash like this one has been doing. I can forgive pc crashes as some of them really is due to external influences like software, bad drivers etc. But if a console game shuts doxn my 1 week old xbox one s, its doing something compketely wrong software wise.

Also i think devs take into account that consoles are connected to the internet and can just release even with potential problems because they can patch it later on. In the old consoles ps1, ps2 for example a lot more testing would have been done because you could not apply patches aftwards.

Don’t get me wrong its good that one can patch up bugs nowadays but i guess some publishers and devs take this into account and spend less time on fixing it ommefiatly and testing the game.

I would expect a game to ship with no major, common or game breaking bugs as it should have been tested, but this “we can patch it later culture” isn’t something we should accept. Yes older games couldn’t be patched, but they were play tested thoroughly. The minor and common bugs would have been quashed and the bugs that made it into retail copies had a really small chance of happening. In Forza 7, we have bugs that affect 100% of players, stuff that should have been noticed during testing.

Most people can forgive a bug that might affect 1 in 1000 players or a bug that requires an extreme set of circumstances. But when bugs affect more than half the cars in everyone’s copy, well then I can see a reason to be annoyed. Mind you it isn’t all bugs, a lot of it is just a lack of Q&A. and general polish.

The are so many bugs in this iteration is overwhelming. On a huge percent of cars and what affects a significant number of players we have:

Broken shift animations
Drivatar Paint issues
Crashing on console
Wrong Sounds
no headlights when taillights on
Crashing in the paint editor
FM6 and FH3 carryover issues
Broken liveries on most if not all the racecars
Wheel rims not loading in
Colour changes and upgrades not showing in the car selection menu
Issues with shadows
Front axel not steering
driver clipping through interior

It also seems the people who do whatever ever it is when transferring assets over from their archives to the new game, either rush it or do it haphazardly. Just look at the Renault Clio RS being given the Jaguar RS badges or the Renault F1 being given the Indycar sound because they will have seen race V6 Turbo file. It really seems nothing is double checked and once a car is completed it just uploaded into the game and that’s it.
