Sim steering and or no braking line?

I use normal steering and the brake line. I could do it without the brake line pretty easily though. Sim steering seems to be more for those with a wheel in this game, although it was super easy in forza 4 without it.

I play with all assists off and in Manual, the only assist I use is the braking line but that’s just case I don’t know the tracks yet, my first forza, but I do have the thrustmaster TX Racing Wheel, but I also play with these settings on the controller as well except I use manual w/clutch.

Being a top racer yourself, you should know the answer.

I think he’s curious about what other racers are doing, not seeking advice.

I use what ever gives me the fastest time. But I sim steering…

I went through a short period where I thought normal steering was better but I switched back to simulation. The car feels more responsive to me in simulation.

I use the braking line. I have been thinking about turning it off recently as I’ve started to rely more on corner specific landmarks to tell me when I need to brake. I haven’t committed to the idea yet though.

I regularly can achieve top 100 times on the leaderboards and win online all the time, although I hesitate to call myself a “top racer.” I’ll admit that I’m pretty good but that’s it.

No braking line but i use normal steering.

Better than average racer/hotlapper.

Never used brakeline. Used sim steering in FM4 (with controller) but in FM5 the oversteer correction becomes almost impossible using the controller = Normal Steering.

^^ I’m with this guy on the oversteer correction even with a wheel. It’s bloody impossible for me. I’m not sure if that is due to incapability or lack of tuning ability to setup cars properly but either way, sim steering isn’t for me. I do, however, use the braking line because I am still learning fine tuning details on depth of braking and proper line through corners to maintain speed. Far from a “top racer” but consistently in the top 500 after a couple laps.

Yeah sim steering with controller, no line. Always forced myself for the challenge and liked exploring the track. In my early days i found with the line on I’d focus on the arrows and not the track itself!

Sim steering and braking line.

I probably could manage without it. I don’t really follow it, just use it as a guide to when I should start breaking regardless of what the line tells me to do.

I don’t know if I would be considered a top racer (I do have several top 1000 times) but I use normal and the braking line. (I tried sim steering , but I just can’t control the car as easily as I could in FM4).

Sim steering and no breaking line…

Sim steering with a controller
No brake line
Manual W/Clutch
No ABS
No TCS
