DLC question on how many times I have to pay for the treasure map with multiple sons on xbox 360

I am a total newbie - both to Forza Horizon and to my xbox 360e / 250gig. If this is a stupid question, I apologize.

Here goes… I have an xbox 360e and 4 sons. Each son has their own xbox live account that they log into to play the game. I also have my own xbox live account…

I purchased the treasure map. I expected it to show up for each son playing the game on the same console. This is not the case. It works fine if I am playing, but if any of the boys are playing the treasure map is not available. Do I have a setting wrong?

Is it supposed to work for all players on the same console? or do they want me to purchase the same upgrade 5 times so it works for each of us? Please let me know. Thanks!

Shared Gold provides free access to game add-ons, like car packs, but tokens are gamesave benefits and only apply to the account that bought or spent them. If they want the map for their gamesaves they will have to purchase it individually.

Thank you for the information. I really appreciate it.

Let me try to explain how licenses work because it’s good to know. Remember though, as said previously Forza Horizon uses tokens for the maps and boosts (not many games do) so it won’t apply to this. However, the car packs are DLC and this DOES apply to them.

Understanding licenses is neat because it lets you share content if you handle it correctly. There is a console license and a personal license. The console license is applied to the console that originally downloads a game or content for the first time. The personal license is applied to your account when you make a purchase and allows specifically you to use said content on any system.

Let’s say you have two Xbox 360’s. One is a friends (Xbox A), one is yours (Xbox B). You go to your friend’s house and sign in to your profile on Xbox A and purchase some content or a game (let’s say you buy a game). Then you go back to Xbox B and redownload it from your history. ANYONE who signs in to Xbox A will have access to the full version of the game on that system. However, only you will have access to the full version of the game on Xbox B. This way, you could buy a single game once and play with your friend online.

You can also overcome the issue of only you having access on Xbox B. If the profile that purchased the content is signed in along with any other profile, the other profile will be able to access the full game or content the entire time you are signed in.

There’s nothing wrong with doing these little tricks, all Microsoft cares about is that you have purchased the content and you are not modifying anything. This works with games, DLC, and I believe music and videos but I’ve honestly never purchased any. On the Xbox One, there is an option to set it as your home console which does the same thing as what’s described above; but because you can set a new Xbox One as your home console you can actually move your console license around if needed.

So, the moral of the story is that if you purchase any actual DLC for any game, everyone who plays on your Xbox 360 will be able to use it as well and vice versa. Even content that is FREE to download works this way.
