Hi Gamers
Probably a silly question to some… but does a diff make any difference if I run with TCS off?
Cheers

Not sure I understand the question.
But on its face the answer is yes.
Race diff is a very important part of tune
Low Decel diff cause lift of oversteer and pending in your style. it can be a pain - but visa versa if having trouble getting car to rotate into corner. lower it.
And I raise accel to as high as I can stand it (I run with no TCS)
When learning to run no TCS on high class cars (R, P, some S) I would lower the accel a bit to make it a bit more manageable
Thinking about it, I could’ve worded it a bit better
I probably should’ve asked if the diff is related to TCS. I.e. I need it for TCS and don’t need it for no TCS.
But you’ve answered my question anyway - I still need a race diff even when running without TCS.
Race diff is my go to upgrade. Even if I’m going for a stock feel. Adjust the dif leave all else alone and hours of enjoyable driving in stock engine/ car and settings.
Accel will be able to be higher with TCS on- don’t need as much feathering.
I find TCS to be more intrusive this iteration so diff allows me to dial in the acel for my feathering throttle technique. But I usually can deal with that. The Decel seems awefully low on most of the cars requiring throttle under breaking which isn’t my style.
40-90 accel (lower on some cars- higher on others (got 100 on some)
17-25 seems to be my comfortable range on Decel
This is just my averages and there are a LOT better tuners out there- I’m just learning and adjusting for my feel
See Juggs build thread. And read harmonic’s and others comments. It’s a very comprehensive guide on parts for build.
Thanks for the reply.
I’m OK tuning usually, diff is just one thing I haven’t really noticed much difference when adjusted with no TCS - maybe I’m just too slow oout of corners lol.
Run power builds with hardly any handling upgrades and you’ll see the importance of diff tuning. Some cars need a lot of TLC and others not so much.
For me, race diff is an integral part. It helps me manipulate the car going into and coming out of corners.
I run no TCS and am quite happy to run 100% accel and 0% decel. This compliments my driving style and helps with numerous aspects of cornering, braking.
Zero in Decel? I will have to give this a try, I know on a bunch of cars I end up very high accel others I’m mid range due to tires spin putting down throttle.
I usually start around 20 on Decel and go down or up from there. Based on my feel
Your tunes are always very good to me. So maybe I should try a zero- I assume there is more to tune that helps with Decel rotation? Or zero isn’t an incremental change? 20 to 19 to 18 I can feel the incremental changes and given what they are I would feel zero would be crazy, This isn’t a slight at you - crazy to me-via my experience-but ready to have my horizons opened
Thanks going to give it a try
I’ve taken pretty much everything I’ve learned from FM3 to 5 and pitched it. This game seems to encourage to break away from the old “standard” tuning process. Most of my AWD cars run 100% accel back and front. Theres a couple of exceptions but its my goto on a base tune. I figured that out the day I forgot to set the diffs on a base tune and was happy with it by the time I got around to adjusting them because they are usually ( for me) more of a fine tuning tool that I do towards the end
Rule #1. Race diff Rule #2. Go back and make sure you bought the race diff. On the matter of TCS, that was the last (and hardest) assist for me to let go. Once you do give it up all together, try and go back to it after a couple of months. Chances are you’ll wonder how you ever drove with it on. I gave the assists up one at a time with TCS off on Day 1 of FM6
