For the people who purchase the dlc especially dlc that grant access to credits bonus’ (vip membership) will there be an option for players to just not have their cars and bonuses until they reach a certain point of the game maybe not legend island but still quite late game to not take away from the intended experience
No they will not do that. Why do you care when others get a car or credits? Play however you want but don’t force others to play how you want.
No. If you want the full experience buy the full game…
I apologize if i sounded harsh, but its actually something players want blackpanthaa pointed it out and his comment section agreed bonuses such as 2x credits can boost progression in a way SOME players do not like because they want the authentic experience and unfortunately the only way to avoid that according to you is not purchasing the ultimate edition which would also not give early access to the players who want a more “authentic” experience, i’m sorry for not making it clearer that i asked if it could be an ‘option’ so that players who don’t mind the bonuses or actually want their benefits can still use theirs from the start of the game similar to the crew motorfest and how they give you the OPTION to import your previous game car collection at ANY point in the game even after the campaign or just never, but once again I appologise.
I’m not sure if I wasn’t clear enough and I appologize, but as you may be aware i was referring to the premium edition of the game which gives several benefits to buyers including early access but it also gives in game boosts which some players have expressed not liking such as the free super cars and especially the credits boost which could boost progression in ways some players have expressed not liking, but of course I was just sharing my opinion and suggesting I’m sorry for that.
Could you provide a little more insight, so I can forward this question to the team:
In FH5, if a player finds themselves with a surplus of credits, they could use the credits to buy a car and then go to My Cars and select Remove Car From Garage, leaving themselves with a lower credit balance. What would be the resistance to using this method to give yourself the option of keeping or discarding bonus credits after having earned them, rather than toggling the bonus off and potentially regretting later not having left the bonus on?
I’ll speak from my pov and what I’ve heard from the community. See with the method that you’ve recommended first of all sure it works but I don’t think its something most players consider especially considering most players dislike the idea of discarding cars and the inability of selling back to the autoshow also by having to discard a car its strictly up to the player to choose how many credits they want to “discard” and even then they don’t exactly have the freedom of choosing the exact value, so while the players without dlc are earning the true amount, the players with the dlc might discard too much or too little credits ultimately becoming a headache for them because they are forced to have essentially boosted progression or else they miss out on other benefits that are completely unrelated to the progression aspect of the game, but of course thats my opinion its possible a good portion of players may not care as much as I do and the few people I’ve heard express the same concern, and at the end of the day it’s just a suggestion and developers are always free to just not add it to the game and I understand if they don’t.
I feel this just completely misses the point being made. Yes, there are ways to self-restrict, but if a game requires a lot of that to be enjoyable then a player will simply move on to a game better designed for them, or not spend the extra money on the higher purchase tiers.
What’s being asked for is a way to integrate the DLC bonuses in a way that works with the progression system being reintroduced, rather than against it. The FH1 progression system has been requested to make a return for years, and we’re so glad that it’s happening; that feeling of progression from Tourist to Legend will be central to most player’s early game. Therefore it has to feel earned and significant. With the additions included in the Premium bundle it fundamentally undermines that design intent. By integrating them better, such as having bonuses unlocked at certain points in the progression, or getting new cars at certain points instead of immediately at the start, you improve the game. By the time you’re a legend you’ve got full access to absolutely everything the Premium bundle has to offer, and it feels like part of the game progression resulting in that sandbox feel the series has become well known for.
As it stands I will not be pre-ordering to avoid the bonus free car, and I’ll be buying the Standard version to really appreciate the FH1 style progression. The Premium bundle in it’s current implementation is completely juxtaposed to the best feature that has been reintroduced.
Didn’t promotional stuff say you actually had to go to the autoshow to claim free cars if you bought a special edition of the game? It won’t affect your credits but you can simply not claim the cars till youre ready
This seems like the player taking too many steps out of their way instead of just enjoying the game. Sort of dips into the whole discussion around making our own progression, which i don’t think speaks volumes about the game design. It only potentially reveals that the game isn’t actually made in mind with those players who’d like to have a stronger single player with an emphasis on progression.
I just realized there’s another way for the player to disable those benefits without the devs explicitly adding such an option to the game.
Not sure exactly how it works on the Microsoft Store or the Playstation store but if a player bought the game on Steam, they can go to Game Properties - DLC - And just look for the VIP DLC and simply disable it. It can be done prior to installing the game or even after.
And if they wish to get those benefits back, they can just enable the DLC and the game will just have to update to apply the changes. And that’s it. If i may suggest, you might want to leave this somewhere in an FAQ section. Or maybe even straight up have it addressed in a potential Forza monthly/ let’s go livestream.
Sadly some of the dlc is automatically installed and activated. Think the VIP is like that but open to correction
What if you simply disable the VIP DLC before installing the game for the first time? That could work. But i imagine if you decide to enable it once, you won’t be able to revert it back.
An actual killswitch might be a better idea, even if doesn’t arrive exactly at launch. Just gonna have to tell those players NOT to install the VIP membership. Or even if they installed it but haven’t started the game, they could disable it before they had the chance to sign up with their xbox/microsoft account through the in-game menu.
This is a big concern of mine as well. The return of progression is fantastic and something the series has been sorely missing, but for anyone who preorders the game or has anything other than the base version then what would stop them from immediately getting a ton of powerful and expensive vehicles as soon as they start?
The highest tier of the game also includes one free car voucher from the autoshow. Sure you don’t have to go out and use it on the most expensive car, but if you get one for free then why wouldn’t we?
I love the series enough to want all of the bells and whistles I can possibly get but at the same time I don’t want them all thrown at me from the instant I fire up the game. I want the progression as much as I want to have access to the entire game’s content.
This also becomes an issue if the seasonal playlist rewards are making a return. And with all of the wheelspin rewards. Plus accolades… Unless all of this has been given some consideration then the progression system is going to be broken from the start.
This reminds me of the introduction of FH4, when the first time through I completely broke the progression unintentionally by cashing in most of my DLC cars from the Autoshow right away. That leveled up the Car Collector task so much that the XP made me skip through most of that initial four-season cycle right to the showcase events. It felt really lame in retrospect, and when I bought a second copy of the game on Steam I intentionally didn’t touch the DLC cars until I’d let that whole introduction play out at its intended pace.
Yeah I get this. Although I’d probably prefer a way to turn off automatically opening wheelspins. I find those ruin the experience far more than the boosted credits.
There were so few cars I actually bought in FH5, at least for my first copy, and it didn’t take long for that rare quarter million spin to go from an exciting hit to a disappointing one.
I was thinking the other day about what my progression felt like in 5, and the vehicles that became my “go to” cars during that process. I realized that so few of them were earned through patience and actually winning races. I was just so often lucky with the spins. That kind of cheapened my emotional attachment to them.
The extra credits weren’t really a factor. It was the extra XP and the fact that I couldn’t decline some wheelspins.
Reminds me of the Test Drive Unlimited 1/2 experience where there was time to really connect with each vehicle you got. Having a huge map to drive around in a slower classed car sure helped stretch out the early stage, too.
In FH5 I was drowning in cars so quickly that any attachments I had were because I remembered enjoying them in the previous game. A whole lot of cars went completely ignored because I kept the focus on the few which I knew I liked.
