By any chance in the future will they bring back the no damage setting? Why would they remove that.
there are sim damage and cosmetic damage. isn’t that good enough???
If you don’t want the car to have cosmetic damage it’s a easy way out here: Don’t crash!! Heh…
A no dirt option so the car stays clean would be nice too.
in a sim-racing game? really?
Whether or not this is a sim racing game is a matter of opinion. Another reason to have this feature is to not have to look at how badly damage is rendered. The game does a lot of things right, but rendering damage has never been on of 'em. Drive into a wall at 200 and all you get visually is uglied up body panels but no real structural damage, no twisted metal. I like having this visual damage as a reminder that I crashed, to keep up the suspension of disbelief. I don’t like the visual damage because seeing it makes it harder for me to suspend disbelief. So I try real hard not to crash …
I’d still like limited or no damage with sim fuel and tire wear. Oh, sorry, this was a question, not a wishlist. lol. As for no damage, did you mean no visual damage, i.e. the car always stays picture perfect?
Hmmm … at least i liked the option to remove damage in foto mode, sometimes a nice option when you want to have race fotos. his was once available in Forza games. I really like the dirt on the car collected during race.
About damage modes, there is one pro for a no damage mode at all. For a cockpit driver, even when you chose “cosmetic damage” - a broken windshield or lost side mirror is not just cosmetic, that’s functional damage.
I believe you’re thinking of Horizon, not Motorsport.
Speaking of glass, It would be nice if the damage, even though just visible, were more realistic. Laminated glass (windshields) do not crack in the manner shown in game. Tempered glass (side & rear windows) cracks in a completely different manner, again unlike what is represented in game. Having spent many years in the Fire/Rescue field, I’ve seen a few busted windows in cars.
No damage? Not even cosmetic? What do you think this is, Gran Turismo?
(The last GT I really played was GT5, apart from the GT6 demo, and you could drive straight into a wall at 200+ MPH and not even spill a drink in your cup holder, let alone damage anything.)
No damage would be a good option for 24 person lobbies to eliminate the extra lag that happens in collisions. It’s updating the appearance of the crashed car(s) for everyone all at once. This often causes bad lag. Some will say not having even cosmetic damage isn’t realistic, but entering a time dilation warp field just because someone hit a wall on the other side of the track isn’t very realistic either.
Considering I’ve played since FM2, no I don’t think this is GT. However for those who want to take photos, or even do videos. Having damage off completely would be a benefit. Being a sim shouldn’t matter. They’ve had it before, why change it now. Clean cars, nothing broken, no lag as someone posted prior. For private lobbies and such seems like a great option to me. Easy to say don’t crash, when the drivatars still and will drive you off the road lol. Just a thought really.
For this reason, photos and videos.
Even if you’re on your own on the track, your car stays getting dirty after a lap.
Cosmetic damage off so you don’t need to restart due to a mistake when you’re coordinating with a group.
There is more to Forza than pure racing.
Exactly, and it’s 100% optional.
