Curious, why no "strategy, tactics, tips, guide" lounge in the forums?

I notice there are lobbies for just about everything:

Racers lounge
Paint Lounge
Media Center
Discussions

Yet, I do not see an area where tactics, strategy can be discussed exclusively like these other areas are exclusive to its category. Why is that?

Here in discussions is mostly complaints or noobs like myself asking questions. A exclusive area for divulging strategy would be a wonderful addition to the Forza Motorsport Forum. Unless, there is one, if so, I cannot seem to locate it.

I find myself going to drivefast.net to get great insight.

I guess it almost could go under the “Tuners lounge” and/or “Racers lounge” although I do agree with you that possibly a subforum wouldn’t be a bad idea!

Sorry if this reply is way late… My posts still have to be approved by a moderator

Strategy? Tactics? Stay on the track, go fast, brake in time and don’t hit other people. If you can do this, you will probably finish on the podium.

I don’t understand why people have to dumb racing down to this level. There is so much more that goes into it than that. If it were that simple, every Joe in America would be racing in Nascar on the weekends.

To the OP, I wish there were a sub category such as the one you’re asking for. So many of us are looking for ways to squeeze that last extra tenth out of our times. Having something along the lines of this would be a very good thing, IMO.

This is actually really good advice. Keeping the car on the track and moving greatly increases your chance of finishing. As you get more comfortable, you can start to push harder and see what the limits of the car are. With lobbies being quite poor in terms of competitive drivers you will more than likely finish and become better through repetition.

This is the 4th or 5th thread i’ve check back in on and people are being condescending immature idiots… I don’t understand… People are offering suggestions to better the forums and asking for help that could possibly help new comers to the game… Believe it or not… Not everyone has been playing since the original Forza nor do we all know everything about everything… To the know it alls that have to continue to belittle other people it’s really pathetic… I’m getting sick of seeing it personally.

This thread could be the beginning of what your looking for. Maybe you should go into racers lounge and start a racing 101 thread.

This is a good idea.

Since we don’t have a driving school or tests new racers can learn quite a bit. Basic cornering, braking, drafting, passing and advanced driving are all topics new racers can benefit from. You can search for racing school videos and books as well to find great advice from the pros.

Something I discovered a few days ago - iracing.com has a series of driving school videos on YouTube. Covers things like braking, downshifting, cornering, etc… Just search “iracing driving school” and I’m sure they will come up. Yes, obviously, they aren’t Forza specific but should give some good overall racing tips. I watched a bunch already and I’m sure I will be watching them a few more times.

If you do not see the threads you’re looking for, why not create them? After all this contributions to the community is what keeps it alive

Good replies gents!

@Anubis Xeper I will definitely check out iracing driving school in YouTube. Another one I found on YouTube is HookedOnDriving. Real life, but many of the principles still apply. Thanks again!

Regarding the immature posts:
No worries, I ignore frivolous posts, even though I am sure they are posting such things just to have fun - I don’t think they are trying to be trolls or jackas*es.

Regarding me opening the strategy thread:
Not a good idea (saying this respectfully) For one, I am a noob (literally brand new to the world of racing) For two, I won’t be actively engaging, updating said thread. I’ll be too busy absorbing knowledge and hopefully practicing. Maybe in a year I can start adding my two cents in threads. But for now, opening a thread dedicated to strategy or basics 101 is a good idea in general, just not by a noob like me.

Regarding mashing in the strategy & tactics thread within the tuners lounge:
I respectfully disagree with that idea. A sub forum dedicated to strategies would be better, more indepth and organized if it has it’s own place the same way tuning does. Both are complete different sciences unto themselves and therefore should be divulged separately within its own space in my opinion.

To be honest, It caught me off guard there isn’t one, for it’s the first place I was looking for when I came to this site. Luckily, I found out about fastdriving.net (This site is beyond amazing with all the strategy, knowledge it breaks down- thank god it exists)

Back on topic,
If such a subforum were here, it would be wonderful to see how all that knowledge gets broken down and discussed via the community. Especially you guys that are experienced and know how to transfer that knowledge into text for us to absorb. But oh well, maybe in the future Turn10 might add such a subforum.

Sorry but I see nothing condescending in my tips. It’s basic for online racing, racing in general. And practise, don’t quit. Learn the tracks, green line is a good help. And be patient, don’t expect to win your first races. Stay on the track. Depending on the skills of the people in a public lobby, you can roughly say that half the competitors will make a mistake and go off, if you don’t go off you will have a big advantage. Sometimes slower is faster! Learn to brake smoothly and in time, you won’t hit people and there will be no reason at all for retaliation, people will respect you and even like you. Go fast! Go as fast as you can go, as fast you can handle your car, not as fast as your car can go. Faster drivers will find a way to pass you, drive a straight line, don’t go out of the way because that’s what causes accidents. Accidents will happen anyway, don’t Always think people are taking you out, people make mistakes, even the fastest guy can misjudge his or your braking point. If you hit or spin somebody, wait for him. And above all, frustration tolerance, you need a lot of that.
So : Stay on the track, go fast, brake in time, don’t hit other people and you will get good results!

Use the search feature. Every topic has been discussed for the most part. Its not the easiest way to do things but the info is out there.

Here is a fantastic link to read thru. This is strictly for those in the beginning stages of forza and not for the pro level racers. The comments can be hard to read thru but every page has some great ideas. Jawshe did a fantastic job putting it together so take ur time and read thru it.

Watch racing. Watch lots of onboard laps on YouTube. Pay attention to things like how the driver approaches corners, when they shift gears and how they pass other vehicles. Many onboard laps that have been posted to YouTube also have some Telemetry included, like how much throttle and brakes are being applied at any given time. I personally think that this is a great resource for acquainting yourself with how a race driver approaches a track. There are even examples of laps at most of the tracks featured in Forza 5 in a wide variety of vehicles.

Now, of course, you have to also get familiar with the game itself. Driving and playing the game is the best way to do this. Even if you just pick a stock car, even a Honda Civic or something, just go out on the track and get to know it. Try one track with a bunch of different cars so you can feel lots of different handling scenarios. Pay attention to every corner and memorize the braking and entry points, always have your mind tuned to where your car needs to be on the track.

As far as the finer points of the game goes, such as building and upgrading cars, or what assists should be used or tuned off, there are other sections of the forum devoted to that. (Though I still recommend folks to turn off ABS and TCS and run manual with clutch. But just because I do it doesn’t mean it’s the only way.)

From a pure driving perspective, the best thing you can do to improve is to learn every track inside and out and be able to attack them confidently in any type of vehicle. Just keep driving, having fun, and trying to improve. You’ll get faster.
