Crash to Dashboard (Nurburgring)

I’ve noticed that after the most recent dashboard update (1407) that I received on Monday 7/7 I’m experiencing a strange issue with crashing to the dashboard when driving on the Nurburgring in any of the three configurations available. I’ve only tested this using X class cars (Lotus E21 or the Dallara DW12) but anytime I approach the NGK chicane (see image below) the game immediately crashes to the dashboard.

I’ve not tested this with other classes of cars, but it happens every single time I approach that chicane with either of the two X class cars I use. If necessary I can provide video evidence of this occurring. This was not an issue before I received the dashboard update on Monday. Haven’t noticed any issues with other tracks using X class cars. Anyone else have this issue?

Hmm. I’m part of the update preview program and I haven’t experienced that particular bug.

A buddy of mine has been experiencing crashes to the dashboard also, but it doesn’t happen when racing, it happens when track voting begins.

Happens to me too. Is there a way to prevent it?

Turn your system completely off using the the button on the actual front panel of the Xbox, not the control.

The 1407 Dashboard Update is released to the public, and has nothing to do with being in or out of the beta program.

The reason I brought it up is that I’ve had the update for a lil over 2 weeks now and I haven’t experienced it.

Crashes to the dashboard happens on some occasions. I went around the Ring like 100 times in the last 24 hours (since I’m sick) and I ran into no problems.

Good. To “reset” the console, and make sure everything is current, the procedure should be:

Exit any game you’re playing, and shut down any active stuff like streaming music or videos. Then hold the Big X button on the console for 3-5 seconds until it completely shuts itself down.

Now, take the external power pack plug out of the wall (or remove the line from the wall-side portion of the power pack so NO power is live to it. Now go get coffee, a soda or whatever, for about three to five minutes.

Connect the cord to the power pack or plug into the wall so the pack receives electricity again. Now start the console as you normally would. You will have an entirely Xbox Green screen for perhaps up to 20 seconds, followed by booting into the normal dashboard.

Everything should be checked/updated as may be necessary from Xbox LIVE. Now try the game again.

I’ve tried every scenario to attempt to clear the issue (power off, let it sit, etc) but I’m still consistently having the issue entering that chicane in any class car. I guess the next step would be to remove and reinstall the game entirely. Hoping a dev might see this post and have an idea what is causing the issue. This is the first issue I’ve had with Forza 5 since I got the game back on launch day, but boy it’s a doozy.

My last 2 dash-crashes involve the ring also.

1: 4/5ths of the way around in a rivals event (entering 2nd “carousel”)

2: C-class lobby, just after ring was selected (clicked to mute a racist just as voting time for track expired, possible conflict?)

I keep getting booted to the dashboard and I have tried everything. It’s a shame I had to wait 5 months for my favorite track to come back only for it to be unplayable.

Just happened again. Happens on both of the long circuits.

If you are getting a crash to dash 100% of the time when doing a certain thing in game, and if a cold reboot of the console does not fix it then I suggest uninstalling and reinstalling the game.

First attempt should just be the game only (not addons). This does not affect your game save in any way, just make sure that the game is not running when you start the uninstall.

If after the reinstall it does not work then uninstall game and addons.

When doing the reinstall DO NOT START the game when it says ready to start. Wait until it is 100% installed and updated before starting.

Also note that it seems to download the game to reinstall rather than relying on the disc. Not sure why that is. Try triggering the reinstall by ejecting the disc and putting it back in but not sure if that changes anything.

Thanks for the suggestions but I have already reinstalled the game and addons. Didn’t help anything. If you install the game while your xbox one is disconnected from the internet it will install the game from the disc instead of downloading it.

Can you please describe exactly when the crash to dash happens? eg on loading screen or while you are on track etc and is it a 100% thing or can you get one or two races finished before it happens?

It has happened since I bought the game the first day the xbox one was released. It use to be intermittent. Now it happens every single time I race Nurburgring Nordschleife and Nordschleife + GP right before the long straight. When the track was first released I didn’t have a problem but ever since the last update it happens every single time. Also it just happened when voting for a track. No matter what I do I still have the problem. I have never complained about the 360 or previous Forza titles but this is seriously ridiculous. I was fine when the game came out and it happened every once in awhile. All I wanted was the ring and it finally comes out and I can’t even finish a lap on the track without getting booted to the dashboard.

Your issue may be different from others. If it started as a random issue and has become more predictable then I do not know exactly what the cause is.

I had an issue with Road America. Every time that track was loading I would get an audio loop and dashboarded.

I uninstalled the game and reinstalled while still online and it fixed the issue.

I would not try to trick the system. Install whilst online because it needs to retrigger the update. Some of these problems I believe are somehow due to a corrupt update and if that is the case then you need the update to download again.

If a reinstall does not help, combined with a cold reboot then not sure what would.

I usually have auto updates turned off, energy save mode turned on and fast switching turned off. Those settings and maybe removing kinect may help fix some things from what I have seen posted in various forums but there is no guarantee people have the exact same issue.
