Corrupt Save Data on 602 Hours Played Account

So today I was told that my save data was corrupt and I would need to start over. Having over 602 hours played in the game, with 100% completion minus the Lego expansion, 20+ Million Influence Earned, 550+ Unique Cars with Many Super Rare Vehicles, I don’t think I could even consider starting over. My issue as many others is crashing while trying to load the game, which happens on Xbox and PC (Yes I’ve tried multiple PC’s and even a Brand New Xbox). Other Reddit threads and forums have told me that my save data is located at “C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.SunriseBaseGame_\SystemAppData\wgs”. After careful comparison to my brothers save data, I can’t tell any difference. From a developer standpoint, there has to be an issue to either repair a save file, or restore what was lost. I’ve spent so much time with this game and have cherished my time doing so and have loved the collection I’ve amassed. There has to be some way this can be fixed. Please help. My ticket number is #46575. My game hasn’t worked since the Lego Expansion came out, and always crashes with the Lego Splash Background. I personally would think it has to be a glitch with the Lego Opening Cinematic or something.

I would legit pay someone good money to fix my save file if it is indeed corrupt. I have a copy backed up.

Wait, do you have a corrupted save file or your game crashes at launch? Because these are two different things.

I believe he’s saying his save is corrupted, caused by the constant crashing of the game. Which makes sense.

No, the devs told me my save was corrupt, but I have my doubts. The game crashes after hitting continue while loading always, on Xbox and PC

Sorry for all this text about to follow, but if you want all the info you need regarding a failed load and corrupted cloud save read below:

Your save is indeed corrupted. It is the corrupted cloud save data that will no longer allow you to launch the game. There is no way to recover your account to where it was before the corruption. There are certain items that will still be saved and available after you have overwritten the corrupted cloud data with a new game save.

The things that will be available after a cloud save corruption are:

  1. Liveries and Tunes you have created and saved
  2. Liveries and Tunes you have downloaded and saved
  3. Ranked Series rewards you have earned, but not collected previously.
  4. Auction House CR from sales and cars you have earned/won/failed auctions but not collected back to your garage previously.
  5. Most of your achievements you have already unlocked.
  6. Your ranked online adventure score and ranking (after you have gotten back to Level 3 by doing quickplay adventures and done your 1 qualifying match for the series).
  7. Creators you have followed are still preserved.
  8. Maybe some other aspects (I did not do a full comprehensive search or audit of exactly everything that was still preserved upon overwriting a cloud save).

Things I can tell you that are for sure lost are all the cars you had in your garage, all the races you had completed, PR stunt stars earned/completed, stories completed, houses purchased, player level and prestige level are both reset, CR is reset.

Here are the steps to overwriting your cloud data on Xbox:

  1. Launch the game
  2. At the fine print screen that tells you Top Gear and LEGO are registered trademarks, blah blah blah (right after the Turn 10 zoom zoom zoom screen, and before the animation where you hit A to continue) you need to go OFFLINE. For Xbox this option is accessed through the Xbox menu and network settings. You could also just disconnect your wifi or ethernet connection.
  3. At the screen that says press A continue, press the button to continue (after ensuring you are now OFFLINE). This will cause the game to proceed as if you have never played before. It will give you the visual adjustment screen. You will then proceed to the game introduction drive in the Senna or
  4. If you own LEGO DLC and you want to expedite the intro process make sure to select SKIP DIRECTLY TO LEGO VALLEY. This will speed everything up 100x and get you back to playing online again.
  5. You will now do the FH4 Intro drive, select your first car, fast travel to LEGO Valley (if you have the DLC) and then you should fast travel back to Britain immediately.
  6. If you own the LEGO DLC you should automatically have progressed to Winter and unlocked quickplay adventure and if you are a VIP or Ultimate owner you should have access to the VIP house after fast travelling back to the mainland from LEGO Valley. Go to the VIP house as it is a shorter drive from the railyard and you need to set that as your home so you start on the mainland next time you load the game. You should also be able to go redeem all your DLC cars with a single button push which unlocks over 175,000 influence for Car Collector (from your house click DLC cars, then click the button that says Redeem All Available). This will progress you to spring and nearly to the Horizon Roster. If you are on gamepass or don’t own the DLC content you will have to do the good old fashion progression through the intro (there are certain ways to speed this up using custom blueprints on certain races to help you earn influence quickly and get through the four seasons and make the roster, this is why following certain creators is important because once you have access to their creative hub you can find their Influence and CR farming blueprints that allow you to go directly to those races through their creative hub and do not even need to progress your Horizon Life to unlock those races and it fast travels you to the races FREE).

How do I know all this? I have helped “recover” over a dozen accounts of club mates and friends. I also personally have over a dozen accounts myself in FH4. Good luck.

To avoid this in the future, you should never interrupt a cloud sync. Whether this be the full on sync from the cloud when you launch or a quick sync to the cloud (the little loading circle to the bottom left of the speedometer when in freeroam). Before quitting out of the game, I always enter free roam and allow the “sync save circle” to do its thing before turning off the xbox.

I was told today that my archive had been destroyed and I needed to start over.
I spent more than 202 hours in the game, with 100% completion plus Lego and Fortune Island expansion, gaining more than 13.3 million influence, owning more than 610 unique vehicles, including many rare ones.
I hope the authorities can give me some compensation to continue my new game.

If you delete your save file and start over, do you have the same issues? (Make a backup first though)

Other than that sorry for your loss, corruptions do happen. There seems to be quite a few issues from the Lego expansion since it was launched, hopefully they are able to sort things out.

(The file you’re looking at probably isn’t the save file if it is the same as your brother’s…)

I’ve also had my level restart I use to be some 318 but now I’m level 25 I’m now a level 26 an hour ago. Anyone have a idea why levels were reset?
