This has happened to me a few times now periodically and it’s rather annoying. I can’t say for sure that it is a Forza Motorsport 6 issue but it does seem to be the case as all other games work fine.
My Xbox One Controller works just fine. I can navigate the home screen, the community section, and the pop up side bar. I select FM6 and the game loads up “just fine” and then I get to the screen where you see your car and must press A. Suddenly the game stops recognizing any and all controller inputs. The only button that works is the glowing Xbox button to take me to the dashboard.
I’ve also had this happen in the menus of FM6 where I have gotten to the menus and then the buttons all stop working.
When this happens I can dashboard and the controller begins working just fine. I can load up any other game I have and the buttons work within that game. If I return to FM6 the buttons stop working. So far my only solution is to power cycle the console and not play FM6. Eventually the issue goes away. It’s still a problem though.
I suspect its an occasional glitch with the latest dashboard. I have had it with other games / no games.
I get that issue on occasion with a controller that I only use with a cable (no batteries). It will disconnect, reconnect, and will then quit responding. I assume it’s due to a worn out connection on the controller. I have used a small screwdriver to slightly bend in the metal walls of the connection input on the controller and it seems to have fixed my problem. If you’re using a similar setup, then this solution may work for you.
I have had that happen to me and usually it happens if my wife is signed on but not playing when her corded controller is plugged in
Have you made sure that the controller is fully up to date
Have you been streaming the game to a PC, or at least have the XBox app connected?
I get this when I stream to my laptop without plugging the controller into the PC (basically just using the laptop as a monitor). Literally the only screen that doesn’t work anywhere in any game is the “Press A” title screen in Forza. It happens about 80% of the time so quitting and relaunching works eventually, but nowadays I tend to navigate past that screen blind before I connect the PC or launch streaming.
