I have been patiently, silently waiting for this style of hopper since online racing has existed. The closest thing that’s ever been conceived was ‘shuffle races’, back in Gran Turismo 5.
Racing production, spec vehicles, on user requested car/track combinations is an absolute godsend. Not having to worry about whether you’ve got the latest, fastest tune; knowing the field is all facing the exact same values is a driver’s dream.
With over 700 vehicles to cycle & 30+ tracks/ multiple layouts to combine, I see no fatigue with this title, anytime soon. No more do I have to worry about hopping in a ‘C’ lobby to know that ‘UNLESS I choose the 97 Civic, I may as well not compete.’
A huge thank you, to whoever at Turn 10 FINALLY put all the right pieces into the formula, to develop a master mix. I just competitively raced an AMG GTR around Nurburgring, with 23 other drivers, knowing damn well that my chances of winning weren’t offset by anything than driver skill, and, or luck. In that race I got to actually feel what it’s like to drive an AMG, the way the turn 10 production team intended it’s hp & chassis values, from the original, factory, real world counterpart . No generic ‘tuning’ parts, ala EVERY OTHER LOBBY CAR EVER RACED IN A FORZA CLASS HOPPER.
Only thing left, to make this hopper even better would be a proper adjudication system–which I know is in the works. Oh, and a ‘wheel user only’ hopper, with same settings, if that’s somehow applicable. & a ‘professional’ hopper, devoted to NO ASSIST veterans, i.e. FORCED off driving line, no tcs/abs/tcs, forced cockpit view etc.
Thanks a million, Turn 10. This is a huge step in the right direction
