Cockpit FOV Adjustment

A few cars where the perspective may need to be adjusted:

  • The Diablo SV feels like the driver’s head is touching the roof and he is sitting completely upright. The road is too visible and this is evidenced by the cockpit steering wheel hiding or covering up part of the speedo and tacho.

  • The same is the case with the Murceilago SV or the Reventon I believe. One of the two. Perspective feels too high… even though IRL, the driver sits snugly in the seat, nice and low.

The M1 Procar, Audi Ultra LMS and Z4 GT3 also have the same issue - FOV too high and the steering wheel blocking the dash readouts.

Can anyone please report FOV inaccuracies here? Maybe the devs will address it in a CU next month.

This is useless. T10 must add ADJUSTABLE FOV for ALL cars.

Adjustable FOV/POV would allow the player to take the issue into their own hands, so to speak. Could take some pressure off of the devs, if they were to implement it. Then again, they’d still have to check it carefully to be certain it isn’t possible to set the POV too high, like above the roof…

On top of the issues of mirrors not being visible without fooling with the ‘look’ stick and POV being too high leaving the instruments obscured by the steering wheel, there is also the issue of cars with the full roll cage fitted having the roll cage obstruct one or more of the mirrors, too. Now, I understand that having the roll cage in your car would cause some additional view obstruction, but when a roll cage is installed, I would think that there would/should be some consideration for field of view and mirror placement. No way the A-pillar reinforcement should block the side mirror, in my opinion, or that the front upper reinforcement should block the center rear view mirror…

Good point Roger.

The main issue stems from how the FOV of the game generally works. It is significantly wide and gives objects a zoomed out appearance. In cockpit view far too much of the cockpit is visible, as if you’re sitting in the middle of the car rather than the front seat. This is also evidenced by wheel movement - when you go to full wheel lock, you can see your driver’s shoulder pop up in view. That is just plain strange.

They had the cockpit FOV aligned nicely in FM5 and H2 - some things just don’t need tinkering with yet they get tinkered!

Adjustable FOV is very welcome and if the devs don’t find it feasible, it would be admirable if they can continue to support their product by correcting these issues and eventually some of the other audio and visual car bugs.

Would definitely be nice to see continued support for the product, at least until the next installment is released… Ideally, I would say even beyond that point, to some extent.

If it isn’t feasible for them to make corrections, then it should at least be given a little more attention in the next installment, so that these issues don’t rise up again.

Like you said, it’s a shame when developers think they have to “fix” something that wasn’t broken to begin with, or when that’s how things end up appearing.
