I love driving from the cockpit view, and it’s even better now on PC with the adjustable field of view, but messing about with all the different views I’m reminded again about how muffled the audio can be from the interior position. Your engine, the other cars whizzing by, the different surfaces, skids and crashes, all the external sounds are deafened in some of these cars with their windows always sealed up. It comes off as very lacking, sterile, and lifeless in something like the Focus RS. It’s like driving ghost car, everything sounds so much better with the external views!
I usually drive for real with my windows rolled down whenever possible, I wish I could do the same in Forza Horizon to hear the excellent external audio, even if that means I have to remove them entirely in the garage or whatever instead of an actual on the fly up / down toggle available while driving. I can’t say I see the Forza devs offering this sort of feature, but I really wish they would! I’d even settle for a hack audio option that just gives me the external audio in the cockpit view, even though the windows are up! It’s not like the game is 100% realism :<
