Ok so I’ve been doing alot of grip racing recently. Ive noticed that if my current lap ends up being dirty (tap a wall, go off the track, etc.) alot of the time my NEXT lap is just automatically dirtied or deemed unclean. Anybody know why?
You have to remain clean ( no walls or running off track) after the last time check of previous lap to start next lap clean.

Oooohhh…ok thanks dude
If you clip a wall on the last turn or dirty your current lap, use rewind and do the corner again without going off track or hitting a wall. While your current lap will remain dirty your next lap will NOT start as a dirty lap, it will be clean like it should be. Rewind pays off sometimes, so you don’t have to do another lap just to get to the next clean lap.
Thats awesome! Good to know.
The track is divided into 3 sectors, you’ll notice by the split times you see on the timing. You can hit walls and go off track in the first two sectors without ‘dirtying’ your next lap, but if you do that in the 3rd sector your next lap is automatically dirty. It is a precaution to avoid people cheating by going off track and getting way more momentum for the start/finish line than they should be getting (if possible).
Your best bet is to try and set your clean laps by doing rivals and hotlapping not racing. Drafting or being drafted can also flag your lap as dirty.
