You’re excluding 60% of the world population if you look at religious belief only. You’re excluding probably more than 60% because “Christmas Day” doesn’t exist for them or is a normal working day.
Next up: wishlists from Muslims / Jews / Hindus / Buddhists / name it?
I’ve sent you a PM but I’ll detail a few things from it below for others. But I want to stress that this thread isn’t a discussion about Christmas.
Christmas may be Christian in origin, but has now become a nationally recognised time of secular celebration. In the UK at least there are many, many people who enjoy Christmas who don’t hold Christian beliefs. Therefore I don’t feel I’ve excluded people because Christmas is no longer strictly restricted to one religious belief.
Recently Turn 10 ran the Halloween Bash. There are no doubt many people who don’t believe in the origins of Halloween but nonetheless enjoy the celebration as a chance for fancy-dress, trick-or-treating and pumpkins.
There have been many titles which run special Christmas promotions or Christmas themed events. Every year COD gives out Christmas themed skins for weapons. Many people enjoy these items who don’t hold the traditional religious beliefs.
Simply because the event holds significance for one group of people doesn’t mean others can’t celebrate it without the same significance.
Forza horizon 2 is an awesome game as is. It would be a phenomenal update if they make the rain “turn” into snow atleast for the winter season. It would be the ultimate street racing game short of having police chases.
I was going to say this. It isn’t impossible (infeasible maybe), because Rockstar did it for one day in GTA Online. However, as no Forza has done this yet, I don’t think it would happen. And at the same time, if there was snow on the ground, would it have an effect on driving? If this did happen, I think you’d expect to see threads on “SNOW DOESN’T DO ANYTHING FIX THIS T10!!!” or “SNOW MAKES IT IMPOSSIBLE TO DRIVE FIX THIS T10!!!” with references to a GT6, PS4, PCars, Drive Club, and The Crew.
That said, I wouldn’t mind a festive little thing, but like OctagonQontrol said, not everyone celebrates Christmas, some people may be offended. Snow on the ground to signify winter has come with no correlation to a holiday though? I think that’d be fine.
The snow on GTA was amazing, looked like a whole different map. I look forward to seeing it again on Xbox One as well if Rockstar choose to do it again.
I would also add that an objection could be made for those in places where the 25th of December is in the middle of summer, and so snow might seem odd. But heck, I’m not saying snow is compulsory ;p
To be fair, the game takes place in the Northern Hemisphere so I’m not sure how anyone south of equator could logically object. That said, this exact same request was made during the life of the original Horizon and it, of course, did not happen.
Though I think it would be a neat touch, I don’t expect to see it. The Horizon Festival, after all, is a summertime event from everything we know about the game’s setting.
I don’t think covering the entire map in snow would be fun. A portion might be interesting - and I ave been in Canada in a blizzard in mid July so while possible, the occurrence is highly unlikely and we’re in the wrong locale.
As for a Holiday themes showcase, that would be neat, but most likely implemented as a Rivals event not an addition to the game itself.
Perhaps you are simply misusing the quote feature but I never suggested the entire map be covered in snow. In fact, I couldn’t care less about the idea.
