I’ve completed two races in career mode, each time starting from the 24th place and climbing up to the 1st, and I didn’t receive the reward.
Is it a bug? Or should I finish the race exactly 5 positions higher than I started, e.g. 20 → 15? Or does it work only in specific races? (I’ve completed two races from Road to Race Tour)

I started 12 finished 2 and it popped for me on Miami midengine tour.

Hasn’t popped for me in the Road to Race Tour, both times going from 24th to 1st. Steam as well.
I still don’t have that reward unlocked, despite completing more than dozen races, mostly in Road to Race Tour but also in Mid-Engine Tour, Open Class Tour, and Free Play. I’ve even tried finishing a race exactly 5 positions ahead of where I started and still nothing.
I hope it will work in week three and week five (the same challenge will be available then).
I got the reward instantly after finishing a race 11 positions ahead of where I started in the featured Mid Engine series in Featured Multiplayer.
Could it be that this challenge is locked to (Featured) multiplayer alone?
I also got reward after completing featured MR multiplayer event, so it’s possible that it’s locked to this event.
Still doesn’t work for me in week 3. I did the exact same thing as you. I tried to complete a rase exact 5 Positions ahead, but in none of the weeks I got the Challenge.
I got it and I don’t race online. I think it was in an open class race, either A or S.
I’ve got the reward for this challenge in week three (in my first race, in Open Class Tour).
Bugged challenge
Even this they aren`t able to make work.
“Finish on a position 5 better than your starting position in an online race”
Done that 3 times now. Challenge Counter always shows 20% accomplished then. And resets to zero before next race then. Only to show 20% again when climbed 5+ positions in next race and repeat the farce exactly same way for the third attempt.
This level of product performance is so low…

Unfortunately, in week 5 the issue occurs again.
It it working just fine, you just have to finish exactly 5 positions better…not 5+.
I just went to freeplay → advanced, just set number of drivatars to 5 and fill anything you want on other settings but most important is on rules, set grid ordering to PI and ascending grid order ON.
Select a car that is on top of it’s class so you starting last (6’th) and just go on and win the race and it popped for me.
In week 3 I started last and finished first and the challenge was completed in the first race. In week 1 I tried to finish exactly 5 positions ahead of where I started and it didn’t work, so I don’t think it’s going to help now. Besides, to make challenge work like this would be just silly

This week’s “complete a race 5 positions ahead of where you started on the grid” challenge does not seem to be working for me.
I finished races 5 positions ahead of where I started in both single-player career & multiplayer lobbies, but this challenge has not unlocked.
