I can confirm it sounds nothing like the actual Sauber C9. Also, I don’t understand why most of the V8s in the game have a placeholder audio note which makes them sound more like a Ferrari V8 than an actual 8-cylinder American or Euro engine.
The raspiness, throatiness and “dirty” exhaust sound that this car is so famous for is completely missing. Again, there’s too much pitch and treble and not enough rumble, bass, and “growl”. It has to have the characteristics of the V8 engine specific to this car.
Even games released many years ago like Assetto Corsa and PCARS 2 have an excellent sound sample for the Sauber C9.
Merc C9 has a very quiet engine note and is being drowned out by environmental noise. My audio levels for all cars is to set the engine to 100% and environment to 60%. At these settings the C9 engine is still drowned out and you can’t hear it.
The sound is noticeably thinner in this game for all cars, but this one in particular is very poor.
I’m using primarliy bonnet cam.
C9 Sauber was already reported as one of the sounds that needs fixing. Let me see if I can find the link for you.

At this point, Bluds at T10 thought a Sauber V8 sounds like a Koenigsegg lol
Here’s GT7’s sound on the Sauber C9
Oh WOW…
That literally sounds like Polyphony recorded the real sound and faithfully reproduced it in the game as best as they could. Bravo!
T10 really should be embarrassed at this point for giving us such poor, abysmal, placeholder sounds and calling it “their best sounding Forza to date”.
What a **it show.
I think I will eventually get a PS5 and GT7 because there’s no indication at the moment how they will improve car sounds or what their plans are - other than “bug logged” or “we are re-recording this car sound as part of a larger audio initiative”. Time will tell, I’m willing to cut them a bit of slack perhaps, then it’s time to jump ship and indulge in a game that truly takes the car lover’s best interests at heart.
The worse sounding game is now the BEST sounding console game - just unbelievable, really, I bet Nick Wisewell is somewhere chuckling and shaking his head at the same time after hearing the embarrassingly wrong and sloppily done car sounds in FM23.
Agree! Not just how good PD did with the engine sounds, but they ALSO recorded the actual cars’ Engine Startup sounds if you choose to drive them.
I remember back in the days where Sauber C9 sounded terrible in Gran Turismo’s older games such as GT4, GT5 and GT6. They couldn’t get its sound right. It was in Gran Turismo since their 4th game title released on PS2 in the end of 2004.
GT5 did reuse the PS2 model of the Race car, while GT6 remodeled it, but it still got its engine sound wrong. The PS3 titles kept its horrible sound, not until GT Sport and 7 on the PS4 and PS5, where they FINALLY got the sound of the actual race car in real life! It’s like Polyphony learned their lessons the hard way in 2017 where they promise to be more better than before, and they finally did!!!
FM4’s Sauber sounded good, but the new FM went downhill as Turn 10 dropped the ball too hard on it. What a Devolution FM really went into.
In 2011 - FM beats GT
In 2017 - GT beats FM
What a plot twist of the battle, isn’t it?
That’s literally Gran Turismo, right?
Just look at the evolution!
For sure, I’ve been wanting a PS5 and GT7 so bad! It’s a very overwhelming racing game to this day!!!
