Hi all! I understand that Career mode has an issue with random starting positions, being that you usually start somewhere at the back of the pack. My game seems to be stuck though. I keep getting 14th starting position over and over again with very little variation. I mean VERY little!
So far I have run each race until I got Gold in 4 Championship series and most of the bonus races associated with each. Took a lot of races as many had to be rerun, some many times, for me to get Gold. I can only remember twice where I started at 8th position, every single race other than those 2 have been at the 14th starting position. I know the game has an issue with this, but my situation seems unusual. No matter which race, no matter which Drivatar difficulty level, I start at 14th. No randomness at all, never 16th or 12th or anything other than 14th. Its frustrating always being at the same position and having almost the entire field to thread through in the earlier parts of the races, especially since I try to race clean so I have to pass a lot of cars carefully.
Sometimes I think I should just ram everything out of my way! But I am trying to train for multiplayer later and I don’t want bad habits, I want to be fun to race against not a bother.
I sure wish they had patched this, a lot of people have posted about the bad starting positions. A little more random would be good.
Don’t care about it too much or you may lose the passion for Forza. It’s a low effort career mode. Awful.
I only do it for the achievements. But I’m a minority. The large mass of users don’t care. Just check the achievements statistics to see what parts are mostly reached in the game.
But I think you are failing to pay attention properly? The 14th position is the starting position in almost all tracks. Bathurst is the one it stars in 8th or 9th I dont remember, but because they noticed it would be impossible to overtake all the field in a silly two lap race.
If you play another Forza be it Motorsport or Horizon you’ll notice the same. It’s not an issue. It’s a desing decision.
About the Drivatars, are you upgrading your cars? It’s impossible to be last. Press start and check the gamertags starting with you back in the grid. Those are your Rivals and are used “based” in your friends who ever played Forza for Xbox One, any Forza and just one Forza is enough. There are 6 Rivals I guess. The rest up to first place are just dumb Drivatars and they don’t really put up a challenge. They are easily passed by you or the Rivals. Or do stupid mistakes. The Rivals can go off track and don’t lose speed.
I believe the game simply can’t handle the full grid of Drivatars. Or maybe they perceived a full grid of Drivatars would be impossible to win, just like the Bathurst starting position thing. The latter is more likely. When you play other Forzas you notice some level 1 Drivatars being Rivals. How can they be Rivals if the person never played that title. Silly cheater Drivatars. The bots need to cheat to win, to be competitive. (For example, a person who only played Forza 5 appear to you in Horizon 2 with level 1 and can be a Rival because is your friend)
There are no Rivals in Free play, only in career. But free play to race against Drivatars is a waste of time in my opinion.
By the way, I absolutely hate that! Every time I go off track I lose speed and usually positions. It pains me to see other cars going off track and blazing onward at full speed. It’s another huge disadvantage as often the only way to catch the front runners is to keep up as best you can and hope a lead car messes up somewhere or gets bumped/rammed by another car. If they can run offtrack and not lose speed but the player loses speed, well, that’s just rough.
I see what you both mean! You are right, after re-running a bunch of different tracks from the previous Series I already completed in all cases I started 14th except Bathurst, which as you say always started 8th. I had never noticed that pattern, thank you for pointing it out.
Being a design decision I suppose I feel better about it. It does make it more challenging though, especially when I am moving up in Drivatar Difficulty. Recently I changed the way in which I approach corners slightly and started winning most of my Highly Skilled races (WOOHOO)! Now running Expert, where I have won a few and lost a lot…but it’s fun and I can at least gain Silver most of the time. Being new to the Diff level and having to fight through the traffic…tough! I’m doing better all the time though so there is balance.
I’m definitely upgrading my cars, for sure Usually I use tunes shared by those far better than I at tuning.
