I was a late arrival for Forza 5 and up until recently hadn’t looked at the car pass. Well given it’s heavily discounted this week and comes with 80 cars I’m going to get it. Will certainly help boost my gamerscore.
From what I’ve read about Forza 6 there will be 42 cars in total which is a far cry from the 80 in Forza 5. Granted it looks like a number of car packs were added at a later date and who knows what will happen in time with Forza 6, but on face value it looks like you only get half the value.
Am I missing something? Did Forza 5 release with less cars and Turn 10 made up for it in packs?
I don’t have the source to back my response, but I assure you in the Forza Horizon days (2012, when the amount of vehicles per car pack was first slashed) it was mentioned that the smaller car packs sizes was the result of extra effort and time being put in to model the vehicles for day and night conditions.
Now, Forza Motorsport 5 (2013), as we know, had no such conditions and, sure enough, the 10-vehicle car packs returned. However, flipping to Forza Horizon 2 (2014), vehicles per pack went back down as night, day, and weather conditions were simulated.
Fast forward to Forza Motorsport 6 (2015) which now has night, day, and weather conditions – things that, going by the rationale used during the original Horizon days, create more work for the team. Therefor, the value of Forza Motorsport 5 and Forza Motorsport 6 car packs – in terms of car count – aren’t all that comparable since Turn 10 would make it a point that more work and time is being allotted to modeling in order for them to be used in those different environment conditions. That, presumably, is where the value is in Forza Motorsport 6’s car packs.

First people complain that there’s too much DLC, now they complain that there isn’t enough DLC. This community man.
AFAIK Forza 5 Car Pass was like $50, Forza 6 is like $20, so no, no value reduction in terms of price/car ratio, it’s adjusted accordingly.

Thanks The Shadow Edge, that sounds reasonable. Night and rain are both pretty cool and they may choose to add more packs later.
SimTourist it wasn’t meant to sound like a complaint I was just asking the Forza community if there was any reasoning behind the difference. Based on my local pricing, Australian, Forza 5 price was $52.45 compared to $39.95 for Forza 6 so the difference is no where near the exaggerated difference you put.
