Car Audio in FM behind the scenes update | AMA transcript added Nov. 22

" * 2005 Honda NSX-R

  • 2003 Nissan Fairlady Z
  • 2010 Audi R8 5.2 FSI quattro
  • 2009 Ferrari 458 Italia
  • 2013 McLaren P1
  • 2017 Ford GT
  • 2018 Porsche 911 GT2 RS"

All these cars sound much improved except for the '05 NSX. That has gotten quieter and really muted for some reason in all views. If that could be addressed, would be fantastic. AND, the '98 Supra sound please!

Is the 2010 R8 a separate car from the 2013 R8 then? I’ve yet to see the 2010 model in-game.

I agree that all the cars that got sound improvements definitely sound better. In my opinion, that especially applies to the 350Z, 458 Italia, GT, and 911 GT2 RS.

Have you tried out the DLC cars yet?

IS THIS HER?

Looks like it, going off the front end of the car.

Yes! I think they ported over the FM5 model that debuted in FM3.

Listen to the P1 that’s somewhat improved too, not like the real car but just sounds only marginally better than the previous sample.

No haven’t tried the DLC I’m a premium/early access edition owner and won’t be supporting their micro transaction model.

I honestly played a bunch the last few days and I have yet to find new audio I dont like, the time attack evo sound is weak but tolerable

time attack evo? Is that among the paid DLC pack?

I personally tested them all, and liked them all except for the 2005 NSX, that sounds small, tiny, and weak for some reason. Rest are all good. We’re talking about the cover cars only between the original FM and FM7.

I spent some time in the Mustang GT3 last night and concluded that it sounds flat, muffled, and a hint of digitized compared to the real deal. It may not be FM7/FH4 Mustang GT-bad, but it is a bit of a disappointment. On a positive note, the car is wonderful to drive in this game.

My apologies, I was referring to dlc cars too, on my setup, I turned it up pretty loud and I loved the 05 nsx

What has happened to it’s sound between 1k and 7k revs? Why is it so quiet and muted, then suddenly comes to life after 7k revs? The real car does not sound like that.. the exhaust/engine note melodiously sings to the driver between 1k and 9k, absolutely beautiful sound. They ruined it this update by squashing the dynamic range.

I want to say vtech but I’m no honda expert, I’m not 100 percent sure but the race and sport exhaust give more aggressive sound as they should, I think my last drive with the 05 nsx was full built naturally aspirated engine around fujimi and was a blast! Much love for the tunnels!!!

The NSX-R with both race exhaust/filter sounds nice.

They muted the sound. For whatever reason, I’ll never know.

Now when I speed up, I mostly hear road noise, wind noise, Ans the obnoxiously loud gear clicks in cockpit view. This is the only poor sound in the 20th anniversary update. This reminds me of how they ruined the Integra R sound, no oomph in cockpit view and really quiet engine sound until it starts to redline.

This is the second Japanese car sounds they have ruined in the last 3 months.

Where are all you people with surround systems? Create some noise. This nonsense is unacceptable!

I like how the NSX-R 05 sounds. It’s like you don’t like anything Speedster.

I’ll say it again, sorry speedster but it sounds good on my surround sound setup, but Im at work, listened to your posted video with ear buds and its not great.

VTEC for the C-series V6 engages @ 4000-4400 rpm (depending on the year), but even then, the crossover sound isn’t as abrupt or noticeable as it is with honda’s various 4-cylinders.

Would you be kind enough to do some more testing please when you have time?

It’s a poor sound IMO, very very quiet and suddenly pipes up at around 7k revs. No sports car sounds like that unless it has a hybrid or electric motor along with a petrol one.

Also, the sound on this car is much MUCH better on the Xbox One Forza Motorsport games. It was just above average on FM 23 which has now been downgraded it seems. Even at 70% volume in can barely hear the acceleration, off-throttle / coasting sound, or downshifting auto blips. It’s really poorly done whereas all the other cover cars got a really good update.

@YungSage64 Thanks for pointing that out. It’s a plain bad sound and they’ve definitely not recorded this off the real car.
