hey all, newish to forums here think i have posted like once, ever. I started trying some online adventure mode earlier tonight and have run into many players who would actively attempt and often succeed in ramming me out of checkpoints or generally using thier car as a battering ram to prevent me (and possibly others) from having a “good” race (as in fun hard racing with the challenge being other players car setups and skills at cornering speeds late braking and the like, you know racing!)
Im wondering if theres a way i can block these people so i never find them online again. Also is it against any rules for players to be ramming others from checkpoints and such during races and if so how does one even report that?
Yes. I do it with all idiots that intentionally ram.
Use the search player function with their gamertag.and then you can block and report. For the report I always use unsporting behavior. I also add a comment like “Intentional ramming and crashing of players in Horizon 3”.
Or if both the offender and yourself are still in Online Freeroam, pause the game, select the ‘Players in Session’ submenu, and select the gamer tag you want to block and/or report. Search can be helpful, but as I discovered while reporting someone, it can lead you to the wrong player if you don’t remember a fair chunk of the offender’s gamer tag.
I don’t think ramming is an explicit CoC violation, but the Xbox Live Unacceptable Conduct list does state that it isn’t all-encompassing in addition to making clear that user conduct that can/does negatively affect others or the service can be subject to disciplinary action. I can’t imagine why repeated and deliberate sabotage of another player’s race beyond appropriate defense tactics wouldn’t fall under that.
hi i reported a user last night, over several races he was repeatedly ramming myself and i saw him hit a couple other drivers too. Its not defense when im being hit from the rear repeatedly on a straight and especially not defense when the same driver gets alongside me and sideswipes me untill im forced off the road into a tree. Am i supposed to hit the brakes and just let my race be ruined for the sake of this tool? Not a chance I hope he cops a punishment and i hope its BRUTAL and long lasting.
Blocking a line, braking late to steal the inside run or even one off bumps from the rear i can understand and accept as tough racing. That goes with with the territory and you see it in all forms of the sport itself. However, ramming a player untill they crash, or in the case of forza, miss checkpoints is basically just cheating, its not playing the game as intended and it has absolutely no place in a racing oriented game. Even if horizon is relatively arcade-ish compared to others. I want to race not get wrecked by idiots endlessly
Trust me, I get you. I recently reported someone for ramming, which he might not have had to do if he didn’t enter a room full of decent builds and able racers with a dinky SportVan (sporting livery inspired by an adult site no less). I myself aim to use proper braking technique, so I’m often at odds with the majority of players who think they can drift a 90° turn at 120 mph or brake ten feet away from the apex. When someone attempts to pass me doing either, they - 8 times out of 10 - end up skidding into a retainer wall, off-course, into me, or into the player I’m pursuing. Either way, their drive out of the corner is binned. You’d think that after an instance or two of no gain or a loss of positions, they’d figure they ought to settle down.
Nope. Same stupid tactic at the next corner. And the next. And the next. I often find myself groaning that just because you can ambush someone in a corner doesn’t mean you’re the faster racer. Any joe can dive into a bend and be tardy with the brakes. However, a faster racer figures out when and how to do it so that they’re gaining time and position with minimal collateral. Unfortunately, many, if not most players are glorified hot-lappers; quick in isolation, utter dumpster fires in a race. And they don’t care to try and remedy that because while H3’s physics and mechanics are semi-realistic, the consequences for racing badly (online, anyway) aren’t steep enough to deter it.
i’m with you! i try to race smooth and pick optimal lines and it agree how frustrating it can be to summon the effort to drive smart only to get ko’d midturn by someone who will use the wall to guide them. Realistic damage would help but then you and me would just be getting sidelined by the hotrodders and try hards and would still be suffering for it. The guy i reported last night, was lvl 666 so in ALL those hours he’s been playing he either never learned how to drive/play properly or he just doesnt care and his goal is literally to be a blight to the online community
also speaking of consequences, i dont think its fair/fun/something for me to lose my skill chains because im plowed into from the rear by someone who doesnt know what the left trigger does! In the real world its the person behind who bears the blame in a nose to tail collision. I’d like to see some of that sort of thing added in at some point please! lol
i don’t ram people intentionally whatsoever unless the crash into me on purpose and then i make their game a living nightmare. crash into me on purpose = i will drop ranks until i see them and ram them as much as i can. i believe in revenge.
but i came to this thread to ask… why is ramming people bad behavior to begin with if the game allows it? like if it was against the rules… there would be a mechanic where you’d probably fall behind like when you miss a checkpoint, 5 second wait, black screen, more wait and then drive again.
the game allows crashing/ramming, thats why it happens so often… and like i mentioned, if it was against the rules, there should be a negative mechanic/punishment to the one who crashed.
the other thing i want to mention is if you are sick of being rammed/crashed every time in RANDOM LOBBIES, why don’t you play in a tournament or league or community or team, you know, a private lobby?
i mean, i don’t like it when someone crashes into me, causes me to lose, but i also don’t gain anything if i win in random lobbies either, so i just don’t cry about it, instead i just revenge.
something does need to be fixed about getting rammed from behind. I do not find it a just system where i am punished by people who dont bother playing in a reasonable fashion. I had 1 race tonight where i had 3 skill chains eliminated by people who use the gaurdrails to turn corners…
people who just couldnt be bothered playing the game end up beating me because THEY kill my skill chains simply by smashing into the back of me instead of actually driving and racing. Im not sure that can be reported, but it certainly can be fixed surely.
Maybe the rear ending driver can be speed reset to 0 and have thier skill chain wiped but the front driver has no ill consequence. To prevent griefing maybe limit this to braking zones (as marked by the “brake line” effect). Something needs to change though
PS when i reject a drivatar please let that be a rejection and not just an open invite for them to keep coming back, especially when its a level 1 drivatar for a person who doesnt even own the game!! lol I have done like 90 head to heads now, half have been lvl 1 drivatars for my line up who do not even possess a copy of the game, complete waste of time but i have zero chance of rnging a valid drivatar untill i race them but it just keeps recycling the same 4 lvl 1’s anyway over and over and over and over and over
Blocking a gamer tag does not mean you won’t see them in the race. They are also on Xbox Live just like you, and if they happen to be in the same lobby, you will have to race alongside.
The best blocking will do is the offender not being able to find you on Live or send you requests/messages. But that’s not what we’re after. Like someone suggested, go to Home after a race, look for the gamer tag, use “report” then ‘unsporting behavior’ or ‘cheating’ or both. You may also report the gamer tag and add a comment such as “ramming other players off the road” or “using me as a braking wall”.
MS does take these reports seriously and many of them do get banned. Keep reporting the wreckers guys!
"To report a player that behaved in an inappropriate way or has an inappropriate name or Gamertag:
Double-tap the Xbox button on your controller to bring up the guide and select the Gamertag that you wish to report. If the player is not a friend, select Recent players from the drop-down menu or select Find someone and enter the player’s Gamertag.
From the player’s profile card, select Report or block.
Select Report.
Select one of the following reasons for the report.
Player name or Gamertag: The player’s Gamertag or real name is inappropriate.
Cheating: The player used unauthorized modifications or attempted to gain an unfair advantage in multiplayer.
Player picture: The player’s gamer picture is inappropriate.
Voice communication: The player used inappropriate, abusive, or threatening language in voice communications.
Unsporting behavior: The player didn’t show good sportsmanship.
Quitting early: The player frequently quit multiplayer games to avoid losing."
And there are more, too, including reporting those who send threatening or profane messages, use bad language in the games, etc. Read the link I’ve furnished above.
I just want to point out that I’ve sideswiped, slammed into, wrecked people from behind but they were never intentional. Even though they harass me for the rest of the series, it still wasn’t intentional. Point is, make sure their actions are malicious and they’re not just accidents (or a crappy driver). Worst case, just join a new lobby.
