break and steering

What’s the difference on brakes between assisted, abs on, same with steering what do they do.

Brake assisted will automatically apply the brakes as you approach a corner.
Brake “on” is ABS (antilock brakes), it prevents you from locking up the brakes if you apply them too hard.
Brake “off” is no ABS. If you apply the brakes too hard your tires will lock up and slide, greatly increasing your braking distance.

Steering assisted will turn the wheel for you.
Steering “normal” requires you to steer the car, but applies some input smoothing to make the car more managable with a controller.
Steering “sim” I think is intended for use with a steering wheel input, as it won’t apply input smoothing and can easily lead to loss of control when playing with a gamepad.

I once turned all assists on and put a rubber band around the throttle trigger and let the “assists” finish an endurance race for me. Cheesy. I think they disabled this, so that you actually have to provide input now. Anyway, don’t play with “assist” modes on, or you aren’t really driving the car.

Don’t worry too much about not using any “Assists” if you are fairly new to Forza.
Some of the “Assists” are not 100% compared to real driving.

When using a Wheel for driving, it may best to use “Normal” Steering and Turn off “ABS” Brakes.

Check out the “Forum” for more info on using a wheel.
Different models of Wheels need different settings in the Controller Options Menu.

Good luck in racing!

Sorry, when I said don’t play with assists on, I only meant the steering and braking assist modes. ABS is fine, normal steering is fine. Just don’t use the assisted modes, as the game will be doing the driving for you.
