Hey guys, thought i’d post this up while i’m thinking about it. Got a bit of a war of attrition going on with our resident unicorn saint on the 1 mile drag. Still beating him, but it’s getting closer. Now in the past i’ve built some pretty drag tunes, but it’s more luck than knowledge! lol
For example, one BMW M3 i built had really soft rear suspension, but made me some good drag times, but then a Dodge Ram i built had really stiff rear suspension, but also gave me good times.
So i’m basically just wanting a good idea of the basics which i can build from. For example, i tend to use the biggest rims on the back, smallest at front, have the ride height slightly higher at the back. Front wheels with a couple of degree of camber, but none on the back. High tire pressures, tweak the gears to top out at the end of the mile. Do any of these things actually make sense for a drag tune. Do some no matter. What about specific engine upgrades, if they’re the same HP, does it make a difference in the game engine whether it’s an air filter or an ignition system? Is lighter flywheel a good idea? Should i be making the car as light as possible for acceleration, or heavy to keep the tyres planted? These are the kind of things i’ve never really looked into. I tend to tune for circuit racing, so it’s a whole different game when you drag, and like i said, i’ve done by luck rather than knowledge. [:)]
