audio/ banging noise when racing

i get a very loud banging/thumping sound when racing, starts as soon as i hit another car or barrier? any one else experience this? i can not find any remedy short of turning off the sound, help appreciated. thanks, whizzerbike…ps, it’s like a virus? is that possible? it’s like i am being punished for being a crappy driver even though i try to be a clean driver.

I get audio cuts every now & again, it even went off altogether on Sunday night while qualifying for a series race, sound effects were still there but the engine noise just stopped (was in a V8 Holden). Luckily i’d just posted my pb so i stopped there & thankfully it was back to normal for the race but yeah, get quite a few weird sound glitches here & there including random banging noises while in rivals.

i get other car engine noises randomly cut in and out
tried it on tv audio and home cinema setting and it still happens

mainly when there are me plus 2other cars in the vicinity

happens every now and then with me aswell, the first time it happened I was playing around 2am with the lights off and headphones on and it scared the living s**t out of me lol

I lose sound at the end of every race for about 15-20 seconds. Has done this since the beginning.

I had an audio cutting out issue…switched my settings back to 720p and had no problems. I guess because the game isn’t 1080p it has some type of conflict.

Forza 5 is native 1080p & 60 fps

It took me a while to identify some odd sounds. I got a loud clattering from some of my cars which I eventually worked out must be.stone/debris noise hitting the car and the sound being amplified by race weight reduction and also fitting a race cage. I also was confused by a pulsing whoosh noise. Then I realised it was passing those vertical Forza flags at high speed that caused it.

As I’m still without a compatible gaming headset I can’t benefit from the upgraded sound. Neighbours can be tedious sometimes…

I found this thread after searching for a reason why I get these thumping sounds while driving. It seems the same as the OP… occasionally if I get rear-ended the thumping noise continues every second for the rest of the race. It’s loud, and I usually have to restart the race to fix it… or jam the brakes and get rear-ended again and that sometimes shuts it up.

My XB1 is about 3 weeks old and I installed Forza via download code. Not sure if something broke in the download, but this has happened about 7 times to me now.

For those who are not clear, this isn’t whoosing noises or some odd noise we can’t identify… it’s the “hit from behind” thump, but it goes thump thump thump thump thump thump thump thump thump thump thump thump thump thump thump thump thump thump thump thump thump thump thump thump thump thump thump thump thump thump thump thump thump thump thump thump thump thump thump thump thump thump thump thump thump thump thump thump thump thump thump thump thump thump thump thump thump thump thump thump thump thump thump thump thump thump thump thump thump thump thump EVERY DAMN SECOND. =-/

My experience has been that all Forza 5 audio issues can be resolved by clearing your console’s system cache. Do this by holding down the Xbox One’s power button (not the controller’s) until the console turns off, then restart. Interestingly enough, many of audio anomalies I once had have yet to return after this procedure.

i also had some sound issues, and i also had problems with my controller lagging. i solved both problems by going to settings and turn on the power saver mode which powers down the console when you hit the power button instead of going into sleep mode. never had problem since.

Do you think this will also resolve random frame rate stutters in the game?

Update: anyone still experiencing the sound bug soon after a hard reset might want to try setting the game’s volume gain at around 80 or 85.

Hope that helps!
