Back in FH3 I spent a lot of time in the auction house buying and selling cars. Several hundred at least. In FM7 I did not even buy a single car yet. It´s no fun anymore.
I found it but is says a small amount based on how much a car was sold for. If that is the case then they need to remove the price caps put on cars. It basically means every car you sell that you bought you will take a significant loss on selling it in the Auction house. I recommend that no one use the Auction house for any cars that are bought with in game credits because you will lose credits on each sale. The only ones worth selling are the ones gifted to you.
That’s the way auction houses work all over the world though. The auctioneers take their cut as commission for hosting the sale. The price caps are there so that people don’t put extortionate amounts as buy out in order to push the bidding up. You can’t sell gifted cars or any cars you didn’t pay for that are earned through levelling up either. Whether the restrictions on selling change in the future or not is anyone’s guess, but the auctioneer’s cut was something carried over from FH3. You didn’t get full credits from selling there either.
I will no longer use the Auction House until this issue is fixed. I will nether post cars for sale nor buy any cars off of the Auction House. Basically every car you buy when you sell it on the Auction House you will get back less credits then it cost you to buy it even if it sells for the max credits allowed. Not cool and there is no need for Turn 10 to take a “tax” on in game credits. Also if someone from Turn 10 is reading this I want the credits I was “taxed” to be returned. I was not informed of this “tax” nor was it posted in a conspicuous or out in the open place for me to see before setting up any auction. Who that has been playing Forza for more than one iteration clicks or even looks for a help button on the auction house?
I didn’t use the AH in FM3 I collected cars and kept them. Secondly in the real world I can see a cut being taken out. It is virtual currency and T10 has no use for collecting it except to take credits out of the game. Secondly, in the real world when you list something at an AH they tell you the commissions (cut) up front. FM7 does not tell you, you have to look for it and then it still does not tell you exactly what percent it is going to take. So every car you sell you will get back less than what you paid for it, which makes no sense. Basically the AH is useless and you can Auction cars that were earned such as Forzathon cars and some cars earned from leveling up.
Yeah, good luck with that. It’s part of the game, but you don’t have to use it, and boycotting it will make zero difference to T10. They’ll just say that the information was readily available, and it’s not their fault you didn’t read it before listing the auction. Those credits are long gone…
That post was obviously not for you then. It was a warning to other AH users that may not be aware (I am sure if you took a poll that a majority probably do not know of this) of what is happening when they start an Auction. I have been playing Forza since the franchise first started. Secondly, there should be a prompt or other warning posted upon starting an Auction that there will be a “tax” assessed with every auction. It should also state tell you what percentage is being taken out of every auction because it is not the same nor uniform. It should not be hidden in a separate menu. Last but not least I by myself may not make a huge difference by not using the AH but it only takes one pebble to drop in a lake to cause a ripple. And that is all that is needed to effect change. You will lose credits if you use the Auction House and I do not think anyone uses the AH with the intention to lose credits.
The AH on all previous Forza’s took a cut of your sales. The only difference being this time around that you can’t set the price on the cars you’re selling at an amount you think is commensurate for the paint/ tune you have added.
I’ve only sold a couple of items in the AH and they were at a loss anyway as nobody bought them out and went for minimum bid.
You win some you lose some, unless you’ve reached the mythical elite status where you can set your own buyout price, the only way to make money from the AH is either buying cars well below their value and either reselling or selling back to game. Or fishing with the FE cars where you can set massive buyouts & hope someone daft enough buys one.
Is there anywhere it states that if you decide to tweak the tune on a AH car you will lose all the upgrades? Losing a ‘set up’ is fair enough, that belongs to the creator. The upgrades however should surely belong to the purchaser. Im still in a state of disbelief that T10 thought it was a good idea, I thought the AH was supposed to be a place you could grab a bargain now n then. I know that I personally wont use it anymore unless its to buy stock motors, otherwise its highly likely you will end up paying too much for an unmodded car because its not tuned as required. I hope T10 remedy this by unfixing this unbroken part of the game.
The flip sides of this is, the seller can only have a payout of some thing like 110% of the base car. Any parts add is a lose to them too. I tried sell a fully built car that cost 100k more than I could sell iit for.
If I wanted tunes, I would look in the tuners section, if I wanted parts I’d add the parts I wanted myself.
I’ve seen a few posts about people upset about this but not something that’s ever bothered me in the past.
I have seen tuners be upset when other people were able to obtain their build by stripping the tune, so have surmised this is the reason for what you’re experiencing. Can’t say for certain either way, maybe it’s an oversight by T10 or maybe they tried to please X audience and upset Y audience - we’re unlikely to find out the reason. Just learn from it and adjust your play.
No point in the AH then? How about saving yourself a few Cr. by buying already upgraded cars you could then tune/paint to your specs as it was in previous editions of Forza. Surely its a fumbled ball and wasnt intended to be this way.
If I remember correctly the “tax” - the sum that was taken from the sale price - was around 11% in FH3, so I guess this might be the same in FM7.
I bought and sold many many cars in FH3 to get the money for the expensive 10.000.000 credits cars. And when you bought a heavily tuned car you had all the parts available, you just lost the tuning setup.
As the cars are definitely cheaper in FM7 AND you can get a car everytime you level up AND you can´t fine-tune the prices in the FM7 auction house I´d rather spend my time racing than get annoyed by the lousy implementation in FM7.
