Auction House is a hot mess

I’ll just get to the point without editorializing or flaming:

1. I am firmly convinced that there are shill bots on the AH. There are at least half a dozen user names that are constantly buying and selling hundreds of cars, sometimes many multiples of the same cars.
2. Who is the “earn while you learn” programmer who coded the search function? Pick a make, pick a model, hit search. Now go back to your next search and the model dropdown lists a whole bunch of cars that nothing to do with that make any longer. You have to choose another make, then go back to your original make in order to reset it.
3. Some of the cars I’ve auctioned never show up on any listing that I’ve ever seen. Where do they go?
4. There seem to be pricing limits for me that aren’t on other users. Many others can place pricing on identical cars that are way outside the price ranges I’m allowed.
5. Some of the low-end limits on a number of cars are unrealistic making it impossible to sell the car.
6. How is it possible for some users (not me) to not fill in the Buy Out field and leave it open so that their auctions are open-ended?
7. Why is there no way to determine what upgrades have been made on a car other than the visible wheels and aero? Especially on the lower priced cars, the upgrades can cost more than the Buy Out price. The buyer should be able to determine what is on the car rather than buy a pig in a poke.
8. There should be a second confirmation of price on Buy Out like there is on Auction Bid. I’ve come real close to buying out a 5 million car when I was trying to buy out a 50,000 car that is listed right below/above it.
9. Why is there no real notification system? Something as simple as “Your XYZ bid has 5 minutes left”. It’s crazy to expect users to be on line all day and night to meet various cars’ auction end times. These should be able to go to an email or other “out of game” messaging system. The current “in game” system is a joke as 9 times out of 10 there is no message under Auctions.

This entire feature seems to be well below the standard of the rest of the game.

True. Ive sold about a hundred cars using the auction house. In addition to the issues you mention I would like a ‘Relist’ option to relist cars that didn’t sell (without having to reclaim and start over), and some stats on what cars of same type sold for in last week or so.

Agreed, your points are also necessary additions to a thorough revamp of the broken AH.

Given the fact that if you count both this thread and my previous one on AH there has only been a response by only one user, it seems that everyone around here doesn’t give a good darn about the AH, so I guess it will stay a broken feature! Too bad.
