It’s so boring now I haven’t level up in like months. Lack of race cars for a racing game is just so lame. Just saw a new trailer of Project Cars and it looks interesting.
Its a lot like the old game but when im in the mood I only play for an hour or so and enjoy it… I think the career section has to many races in it, I usually play on free play.
I did get bored of it but Long Beach got me back into it and hooked on Indy Cars for a while. Now I am running through X class leaderboards with a mixture of Indy Cars and the E21 (mainly the E21).
I have built a fleet of 4 E21s lol and want to get more, each with a different paint job and tune.
Another day onner here, and im still entertained. I find that taking a week or two off here and there helps it to not become a grind.
Got 3 more championships to do (when i get the cred to afford an E21!). But im also looking forward to setting up some long free play races afterwards.
I have tuned and painted from B class downwards and am looking forward to making the step up to A class soon. Theres nothing better than taking the time to tune your own cars, personalise them and test them against others in the lobbies.
However the downside is that there can be a big difference in car performance even if both at the same PI. Ive tuned cars that i consider flawless yet they can be flattened by something in the lobbies which is 3s quicker which i think is a bit too much.
Im hoping we get cycled production lobbies back soon. They were always good for competitive racing.
There are features that are missing but i would be more concerned if they weren’t in Forza 6. Like online race replays, race results (and accompanying full lap times) and clubs.
The only other issue is a lack of friends to play online with
Another fella started a similar thread about wheel users getting bored with FM5, and I’ll expand on what I said there:
I can play FM5 and be entertained, but only for an hour or so before getting bored. The limited tracks are the major culprit. I just can’t do multi-hour marathons like I could in FM4 and FH, and still do with other games I currently play. Like I said, I get bored after an hour and switch games.
FM5 is a stellar driving sim, and one of the best I’ve ever played (certainly the best on a console), it just isn’t engaging enough with only 16 tracks.
I got the game on day 1 and have adored the driving graphics and sound. I could live with 200 cars if the mix was more to my taste. I used to mix up painting, the auction house selling 150 cars a day, and of course racing! With the AH gone a huge chunk of enjoyment went up in smoke. The thrill and challenge to create new paint disappeared as well. Whilst i happily race on not only is boredom lurking on my shoulder but my forza mojo has left the building. What will finish me off before October 2015 is the lack of tracks.
Im very entertained. I have started to race classes I don’t normally run. I’ve spent a lot more time painting and learning how to tune. I’m loving this game.
Some more human responses from Turn 10 would be soooo good though. Just to answer a few questions that will put a lot of people at ease. My main concern and reason for boredam is lack of OPEN Public lobbies.
I gotta say, my entertainment on FM5 has just spiraled down hill. The lack of tracks is really whats getting to me, the cars i could care less about as I only drive the R32 skyline 90% of the time. But tracks… i mean not even talking Nurburgring, there are just no tracks… all of the japanese tracks are missing, and many more from previous forza games… i dont understand the step backward for the next gen consoles… either way i guess it wont be long until fall and we get our first glimpse of the forza franchise competition. ( not GT as i never saw GT as competition to forza… im talking project cars. )
Been absolutely enthralled by this game. The whole DLC free cars deal has opened me up to some new cars that I would have never bought in game under my own power. The Punto Abarth is such a joy to race with and the old Impala is just a monster. It really shows that Turn10 does think about its fans. Allowing us to have instant and free access to cars we paid for, excellent!
Checking in this weekend to see if there were any game changes announced in the Week In Review, saw this thread and figured it was a good place to post up the current state of play for me.
The bottom line is that, after playing FM1 through to FM4 almost continuously, the story is completely different for FM5. I pretty much stopped playing it mid-Feb and have only been on 5 or 6 nights since and then only for organised races as part of a series. I’m definitely in the bored camp
But why has it ended up like this? The rumbling triggers are a masterstroke and certainly improve the feel of the cars no end. I’m not convinced about improved physics though - it appears the “sloppy spring” tunes are back in the ascendency. And while I did initially think that the lack of cars and, in particular, tracks was a major factor in the boredom which was setting in by Christmas, the released of Road America and Long Beach did nothing to re-establish my interest.
What seems to have caused me to switch off from Forza is the racing in FM5 - it’s been poor to say the least. With other friends also losing interest quite quickly, I tried the hoppers despite having disliked and generally avoided them in FM3 and FM4. That didn’t last long as I didn’t see a single race without at least one person taking out other cars or driving backwards. If there had been user-created public lobbies I would have headed to them (at least there is a good chance that anyone like that would be kicked straight away) but that’s not an option now. So, what about single player? Generally the drivatars were pretty good in D to B Class, but above S Class they are terrible. Quite what sort of race drivers would combine to drive three wide down the straight at Spa then all simultaneously slam on the brakes halfway along is a mystery to me, but that was just one example of the Drivatar madness. That leaves hotlapping, but without an overall leaderboard that felt hollow too. But from my experiences, the creative direction of the franchise appears to be moving away from good racing and more towards making the thing look pretty.
Maybe FM6 will be better, maybe it won’t. One thing I do know for sure is that after my FM5 experiences I will be waiting to see how early adopters feel before I shell out for it.
Yeah i agree as well, and to all who wish Forza 6 will be better, so do I, but we must remember thats probably going to be another year and a half until release.
I am still very much entertained, thanks in a large part to just how cars feel to drive now in this forza. Multiplayer hoppers are hit or miss, but overall I’ve still had quite a bit more fun than I’ve had frustration in the few dozen or so races I’ve gone in so far. Perhaps I’m just lucky in that regard that I haven’t faced that many crashers/dirty drivers yet… anyway, yea, I’m not sure why but the physics just makes races/rivals runs more replayable and fun than in prior iterations. I’ll still go back and forth between Forza 5 and other games, but I don’t feel like I get “burnt out” as quickly with this one.
I have just recently got back into forza after a 2 month break(FiFa) and I’m really enjoying it again.
Granted the game has more bugs than the Brazilian rain forrest yet its an evolution on all previous versions and is the best driving sim avalible on any console. Sometimes you need to take a break from things to really appreciate them. Thats why we all have holidays. If your still feeling bored try using the KTM with no assists at all, works for me and makes me smile, sometimes.
