First of all: I love the Challenges. I think it is a great way to get someone back to play a certain game.
I loved the 2.4 hrs races in Forza 5 and getting a challenge “achievement” for it (I don’t really know how else to call them).
I spotted them in my achievement app and was all “Hurray, in 3 days there is a really good reason to play the game for almost 3 hours”. And I did that, I got the “achievement”, had fun and was rewarded (okay, a point we can argue about ^^).
Sure, if a successor of a game is released, the old game is then the old game. Just like Turn 10 and Playground did it with Forza 5 after Horizon 2 was released. But now Forza 6 is up and running.
But hardly any developer does these kind of achievements anymore. Not even a Halo 5, a Fallout 4 or the new Tomb Raider.
So: Are we done with them?
What is your oppinion on the challenge “achievements”?
I would imagine that they would keep the challenge achievement setup, the game just hasn’t had any major events to coincide with since the game came out. Bathurst is really the only major race we have seen since the release. I would imagine when/if they release new tracks we will see something. Also, its a pretty safe bet that Le Mans 2016 will see an event like the 2.4 Hours of Le Mans and the same for the Nurburgring 24 Hours.
I enjoyed them just for the fact that they were that little bit of extra effort for us hardcore Forza fans. I had my 2.4 Hours of Le Mans achievement badge proudly displayed as my Xbox One background for a long time.
That’s up to Turn 10, we haven’t heard anything about it anyways.
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain made great use of the feature, as there were new Challenges every week, with an Achievement Art style different to the normal Achievements.
