Anyone got 100,000 likes for a paint design?

I think i only shared two designs thats it. If i want to share my paints why cant i get paid for it. Wheni have done a search for a specific paints you dont see much or if any. I think people are waiting to see if they add a storefront in the game to sell the paints.I have gotten messages that my paint was used in a race but no credits for it. I maybe wrong for saying this but, there are two groups of people on forza, ones that race for credits and people that paint for credits.

People who paint to earn credits are doing it all for the wrong reasons. The most successful paints over Forza history have been paints that are FREE. If you stuck a paint on the storefront for 50,000 you would be lucky to get 10 downloads in a month. Stick the same design up for free and you will have 10 in an hour.

A common misconception is you need to do a complex, intricate and stunning design. The fact is that is wrong!

Often the simplest of designs WILL do well. You do not need to be a well known painter or post threads up. Sure, it helps, but do a design that ticks the right boxes and you are onto a winner! Steer clear of producing paints that everyone and their dog has done. Who wants yet another Monster paint on “X” car??

Vintage race cars ALWAYS sell well and are pretty dam easy to do. Get the logo work done and tones right and you will be onto a winner! Or try simple “Custom” jobs. Or keep an eye out on the DLC threads. Then get some logos and graphics done ready for release. You can really rake the creds in offering good paints on new cars.

If you do 10 top notch simple paints once the ball starts rolling you will rake the credits in, get the badges and the world will be a happier place

I cannot emphasize this enough. I have gotten lucky with a Blancpain Lamborghini because mine was one of the first. I got selected and now it’s uses have skyrocketed. At the time it was unique, others have also done the car and I wouldn’t have done it if I was considering it now.

Woah their pal! You cannot generalize like that! I really like you Dan, don’t do that to me. This is my specialty, they are not necessarily easy. Anyone, including Dan who wants to further discuss the nuances of painting retro cars may feel free to PM me. No hard feelings Dan.

lol Sorry mate I did not mean it like that. What I really meant is something like the old Ferrari race cars with the simple circle and black numbers and few logos is far easier than something modern like a GT paint

What if the design you produce is more accurate then all the paints that “everyone and their dog has done”?

I make designs that many others have before me. However I have yet to see it myself or be shown a better version of the same design then mine. I’m not trying to sound arrogant and say my designs are the best but I believe the designs I put many hours into are more accurate then the same paints by others I have seen

What I am about to say may sound mean, but it is the truth…so please no one take offence please.

9 times out of 10 most buyers will not notice the finer details. They will see the first Ken Block paint they find and buy that one and forever race in it feeling they are a Gymkhana god. They won’t notice that most of the logos are stock Forza logos, made up with forza fonts or there are no safety vinyls and bonney pins etc… In the end they may get bored of that paint and go and find another one, but they won’t look for a better version of the first paint…they have already used that one in their mind. The other 10% will go and find the best version of said paint and run with that one probably till the end of the Forza title.

I spend a ridiculous amount of hours making stuff that 90% of people will not even see the detail put in, not even seasoned painters see the stuff till its pointed out. But for me it is what makes a whole design complete - the fine details.

This is where the issue arises. I will never argue that you may well of done the best version of a paint that others have done. BUT if there are 100 versions done your design will struggle to shine out.

No offence taken at all! This reason you mentioned above is why I don’t paint for the money. I’ve only earned money off one Paint Design that I’ve made and I only got some within the First couple of days of its upload when it had a high initial usage. I just take pride in my work knowing I’ve spent a lot of time in it and that it’s as accurate as I can make it. I might try entering some of the Livery Comps in the Future

OP - Yeah right. You have to sell your soul to the devil for that many likes.

On the other topic, the way they have set up the system is a failure IMO. At the very least painters should be paid out per DL. Honestly I made a ton of cr. designing customs and replicas for TORA and FSS racers in FM4. Was that fair? Maybe, maybe not, but at least I got fair pay for the amount of time I invested in making the community a better looking, more realistic place. Now that I will not be making any kind of real money, I have to devote as much, if not more time on the track to keep the house afloat.

Before the purists and fanboys start in, I paint because I like to. In fact I have several cars completed since I picked up the game in Feb. I also believe in fair pay for fair work though. An hour of racing is easily 100k with level ups and when I take 20 hours designing a car only to get a message saying “with more use” I could be paid I become discouraged.

No one likes or uses my Designs. I got a thread here in the Forum and from evvery Design a Pic uploaded but it is imposible for me to became likes or uses. Congrats to the Boys and Girls who became the Likes and uses.

For me it`s over with Forza 5

Greetings from a frustrated Gamer

I feel your pain people

I don’t know why they had to change the search system. Obviously they changed things to stop hackers from stealing peoples hard work. That’s fine. But why change the search function and the way we get paid?

Why can’t we even view the car before we download it???

Thought we were on a next gen console here.

Dont paint for others, paint for yourself. In Forza 3 and 4 I just wanted to paint to earn cash, and well I did earn alot of cash. Could only paint and buy cars for the money they earned, but nowadays I just paint because I think its fun. Though its really fun if your paints are appreciated, I give you that

…and support your friends. Do you know how it feels to be sitting at the start of a multi-player race and see your friend in front of you with your livery? Make sure you follow your friends so they show up on the 1st page of design recommendations. Just download, like, and use (even if you think it’s ugly). When they see you using theirs they will reciprocate.

Little harsh there. Yes the 100’s of carbon paints with X colour wheels should not be there, but no matter what you think of some of the designs and how badly you may feel they have been done you should never down people who have tried. Their paints are there because people have got them and liked them. It’s peoples taste you should question

I’m not downing anyone here apart from turn 10s crappy system. Which it is!

It’s got nothing to do with taste.

People can download whatever they want that’s fine, but seriously, having plain cars ie plain black or blue whatever in recommended cars is just total nonsense when people can spend months on there work and it doesn’t get seen.

I paint because I like to race in style. If other people find the paint attractive and use it, that’s icing on the cake. Don’t really need credits; get plenty through racing anyways.

But posting the paints, even at this site, is not a good exposure. Number of people who visit this site regularly may be 1 out of 1,000 who purchased FM5. Then the visitor has to open your thread to look. This dependency on chance is not successful.

The best way to get your paint noticed is to paint a POPULAR car then enter it into the weekly Livery Contest. Somebody has to win. Once the car is chosen by T10 then it will receive tons of exposure. The chosen paint will appear on the first paint selection page which will be seen by EVERY PLAYER who is looking for the paint for that specific car.
