Sometimes, on FH titles, I like to turn the hud off, get my full rig out, and cruise around the map, obeying (sort of) the road rules, before having a blast down a country lane, lol.

What shifter knob are you using?
It’s the standard th8a shifter but with a real world sparco gear knob bought from Amazon, fits fine!
I’ve got the TH8A as well and hate the stock knob. I’ll have to look into getting something better 
As long as the knob comes with a few rubber insert sleeves you’ll be good to go
I do that regularly also. Once I started, I stopped using the skills HUD completely.
It makes the game look so much better too
I like to do it on pcars 2, great for immersion. I’m going to be spending alot of time on FH4 like this
Ive been doing that since the first Horizon. Wish the maps were bigger though. I’d rather have more roads than more cross country areas.

Same here man, but back then I had an official Xbox wheel clamped to a wooden table lol. Good times
I tried this in FH2, in hood view. I kept switching down into first gear while searching for 2nd or 3rd, destroying my transmission in the process. I play with HUD on now. 
Are you using a th8a shifter with clutch pedal mate?
Was watching the daytime one with a sly grin, wondering how long you could do that before the drivatards ruined the immersion, reasonably impressed you lasted nearly 3 minutes! Doing this will be loads more fun in an actual online world.
