In FH4, they added a slow down if you hit a wall to try and prevent people wall riding.
When I play, especially in my first few races, I often hit a wall; which loses me positions. Then the game doesn’t let me accelerate, which can be quite annoying.
Does anyone know if this feature has worked in preventing people wall riding, or if it’s only annoyed bad drivers such as myself
To be fair to me, it’s not always completely my fault. Earlier, I did a dirt race and there was a wall after a jump so I couldn’t see the wall or slow down (as I was in the air). I then hit the wall and got the slow down.
No worries. I think we all hit walls from time to time! There are some amusing videos on YouTube of FH4 pre slowdown and ghosting changes (amusing now but not for someone trying to drive clean at the time).
It works, but it’d be nice if the system could tell the difference between a wall tap and wall riding, especially since the former is usually accidental.
I’d prefer if they just removed the walls. The slowdown doesn’t always proc. I’ve seen people SLAM into walls to accelerate off them just fine. These people should be going on wild wilderness adventures. Walls are just a safety net, allowing people to corner bomb and do other cheats without enough consequences to discourage them.
Walls should only exist to prevent aggressive cuts, not act as a crutch for bad drivers. This isn’t an anti-bad driver stance, I just want the path to improvement to be improving driving skills only, unlike now, where corner bombing, wall riding, and driving dirty are also paths to improvement. And that’s mostly due to walls.
If someone pushes me in the wall in horizon open race then I usually won’t get slow down. The system understands that it is not my fault so it’s not that bad.
On the video the other player barely touched and he takes the corner much faster so the game thinks that you just understeer into the wall and anyway in this the slow down is almost nonexistent.
It was needed and works.BUT, it now leads to the really annoying situation in races where you get t-boned into walls on corners and then have to sit and watch as your assailant speeds off with gay abandon ,whilst your car is crippled
I lost front grip because he hits me.
And I am playing the “inside defense racing line” thing so it is a slower line.
If I not run inside line he could dive into my side and I got push away anyway.
The crash reaction are too strong and the wall are too close to the track.
on 1:45 he did the same thing on the supra but the supra didnt slow down but you can see he ghosted = he hits wall too
I guess that the game failed to understand that you lost grip because he hit you probably because the touch is minor or something like that. It’s not perfectly implemented but it’s not that bad either.
Cars are unbalanced and these kind of incidents are common if someone with more power roadblocks unintentionally.
My speed went from 88 to 118km/h it is not that minor.
->Me: trying hard to respect others pacing and line so don’t push other players when I am faster in some section.
->forza player: mirco divebomb into you and use you as brake pad then blame you are slower/blocking them in other section.
Yes it’s like that but I still think that the slowdown is not that bad in the game.
In my opinion getting a balanced competitive car helps and I more likely to deal with less such incidents but i can’t avoid it always. Losing unfairly is part of the whole thing.
And I think the way they present not suit for a arcade game. So many players dont like that.
In need for speed If I crash heavily into a tree/block head on. It give me a crash animation then respawn my car back into the middle of the track.
A light crash my car flash light “acting” it is malfunctioning
It do the penalty “hiddenly” and “naturally”
In forza It will be get stuck with a super slow down because god dont like me
and the ghosting give the rammer free overtake. It is bad and unfair
In project cars 3
It is the diver stopped by the car in the front. The front car dont bounce away.
Then the diver get a rating down penalty for the action.
So people not try to intentionally diving
And people try to earn back the rating thing so they drive more carefully.
Even the rating system is not actually working well.
