Aid Requested In Tuning

So I’m trying to modify a Mazda Spirit R FD to go at least 1.52 on Fujimi Stage D and I just can’t get it to go close enough. Best time was 1.53.730, and now I can barely hit that.

The real problem seems to be that the car WILL NOT stay on the line while going through corners. Even with my meticulous style and easy pedal control, all four wheels loose traction in some of the corners and it slips off the line and causes time loss. I tried tweaking the settings a bit but I’ll admit that I have no idea what will make it best.

If anyone here could help me out with getting this thing to stick to the road, that’d be fantastic!

I’m not sure what would make it stick and help me snag a better time. Trying to squeeze as much out of it as possible, but I’d like to keep the weight reduction at sport and keep the look of the car stock, so no rim or aero upgrades. It’s been quite the challenge for me.

Can anyone here help out? It’d be much appreciated!

III spend a lot of time on Fuji - i will knock out a tune for you in a day or two . Send me a FR and i will gift it to you when its done .

That car is not available on Forza 4 - i think you have posted on here by mistake .

it, the 2002 Mazda RX-7 Spirit R Type A is… is one of the unicorn cars.

OP could add (and adjust) the race differential ~60/30, lower camber to 0.8 front and rear, and caster down to ~2.2

Yeah I forgot, it’s a unicorn car. Quite annoying. It’s difficult to get help tuning a car that nearly no one has. :frowning:

I will try your suggestion. Thank you for the help, and if anyone has any further input, I could use all the help I can get!

Ahh , that explains a lot , im not 100% sure i have that one , i went by the Mazda garage and could only find the RX-7 . I will check later tonight if i have that Unicorn or not , if i do i will have another go at a tune .

was just a few baseline suggestions, where I often begin. I have the Unicorn, will try and put your build together later. and see what the springs etc. are really like.

I played with this last night. I tried a couple of combinations of spring/damper/swarbar… with some success, but I am a long way off matching your time with that build (and my “tuning” of it)! I am certainly not the fastest of hotlapper, but I am some 5+ seconds off of your target.

Ahh, well thank you anyway voldemortt. I appreciate that you’re willing to help.
Someone send this person a Spirit R!! XD

DesigningLeek47, thank you for working on this. The times I’m getting are a result of constantly driving Stage D over and over again with the same car, as well as different cars. Once you find a good line through each corner and start to get confident and push it, with a little practice you can get some pretty crazy times sometimes. You really can’t let the tires slip at all, though. I’m looking for precious milliseconds, here!

let me know if the above, with your build, yields any improvement, 'k?

I did improve my time a bit with it, then I went full S700… and took some more off… it’s on my store front ;^)

I don’t have the unicorn version of the RX-7, so I used the regular one with your exact build. It’s probably pretty close since it’s at 665 PI. I did what I could with the tune:

Tire Pressure: 31.5/31.0 psi

Gearing:
Final Drive: 3.61
1st: 3.18
2nd: 2.13
3rd: 1.58
4th: 1.25
5th: 1.02
6th: 0.85

I don’t get to 5th or 6th on this layout, and gears can be changed to suit your preference.

Camber: -0.9/-0.4
Toe: 0.0/-0.3
Caster: 3.2

ARBs: 13.70/5.40

Springs: 416.0/709.5 lb/in

Ride Height: 7.3/7.0 in

Rebound: 7.2/4.7

Bump: 3.7/2.3

Braking: 43% balance, 170% pressure - pressure can also be changed to preference

I got a 1:51.773 in this tune, but the lack of aero and differential severly hampered the handling potential of this car. Unless you have to run this specific build for a spec event, I suggest adding the Forza aero and race differential. Rollcages aren’t essential, but I think it would benefit this car on this track. Hopefully this helps!
