A Random Guys Opinion of Forza 7

Hi everyone,

Just felt like sharing some of my thought’s of Forza 7, for anyone that cares to read

First I’ll start off by saying I’ve played every Forza since Forza 2, and so feel I have a good idea of the series, so here is what I think of Forza 7 so far:

Pros:

  • The graphics of Forza 7 is easily the best I’ve seen (on Xbox) there’s still work to do on the tree’s and surroundings, but the cars are very impressive (obviously worked hard on this to try sell some Xbox X’s).
  • The car collection is massive with a great choice of cars, only thing missing is some more of the new models, but I guess they are saving them to sell in DLC, still I feel they could of done better with this.
  • The campaign is more refined and I feel offers enough content, yes it’s shorter then the previous games, but I feel it has a good selection of races, tho I would like to see qualifying and maybe a campaign similar to project cars in future Forza games.
  • There is a decent amount of tracks, probably the best Forza selection of tracks, maybe they could improve by adding more from around the world, more from Europe, Japan and Australia would be nice, also I miss Mount Fuji.

Mixed:

  • The added card packs feels a little out of place on this game, I get they want more money from the game, but I just feel the money earned from races is quite poor to try and encourage people to spend real money (I assume you can? I should probably look :P). I do sometimes enjoy the random element of card packs, but I’m not sure it really fits, meybe a little forced.

Negative:

  • No AI in private multiplayer lobbies, I don’t get why this isn’t standard by now from day one, I used private lobbies with friends and AI on most the previous games and some of my favourite memories have come from this.
  • The AI has dramatically got dumber, I’ve tried the game on all settings and they often just drive into the back of me and just keep driving pushing me along, also they don’t sense your their and move they seem to just stay on their own route, I thought the last Forza had the best AI of the series, yes it was no where near perfect, but I played on unbeatable and never had such dumb AI, I have played most the game with aggression off and are now trying it with aggression on to see if it improves.
  • AI traction/power boost, the AI have more power and traction on higher difficulties, I understand why they have done it, to try and make the game harder, but feel this is the wrong way to do it, first off it makes tracts like Le Mans almost unwinnable at times, I have done a race with all Radicals and they pull away yet we should all max out around the same number (identical cars, yes they could tune, but not by the amount they are pulling), even when drafting I can’t overtake them, also quite a few tracks with hills seem to show the massive gap in grip that the AI have, for example the hilly sections on Alps they climb it in an incredible way, other tracks are Road America, Sebring and Maple Valley, this is the first Forza that has such a huge advantage given to AI, previous ones have had this, but this seems to be the worst I’ve seen.
  • The money on this game is slower then previous games, this maybe down to the constant prize offers from levelling, I’m happy to work for my money, but I do feel it’s a little slow, I’ve played most the campaign and never crossed the 2 million, on previous games I often had 20+ million after this amount of time.
  • Campaign race lengths, this is mainly a problem on higher difficulties, usually the front lot run away as we start mid pack, there is usually not enough laps to catch up with, I’m quite good, but I’m not good, usually it just ends up in a crash fest as I try rush to get pack the fodder to get to the decent front three.

Ok I’ll give it a rest now, just to summaries I like the game, maybe I feel there could of been more of an improvement in this game, but I expect most their work was spent on making things pretty for selling X consoles, anyway back to racing.

Keep in mind that if you choose the car as a level up reward they are not always free. You can eat up your race rewards after every race of the cars cost 50-300k which a lot of them do.

I use the mod cards to remedy this though. Unbeatable drivatars, long race length, three 50% or higher credit boosting mod cards and walk away with 100-150k after every race (between 12 and 15 minutes per race). So that’s a million credits in under three hours easy without level up rewards.

But like I said above, choosing the car will sometimes eat into your race rewards before you even noticed that it happened. I almost always take the car unless it is a NASCAR so I don’t always get to keep my race rewards.

As for the rest of your review I would mostly agree. Not all of the cars seen to bear out the same level of detail and the home space was a wasted opportunity but on the whole I really enjoy this game.

Thanks this is great advice, I have been taking the cars, as you say that’s probably where my cash has been going, the 50k most of the time doesn’t seem the smart choice with the car’s I get offered, I’ve not been not using the mod cards, probably where I’ve been going wrong then haha, I’ll try this later, thanks!

Also you mention the race length not being long enough - under assists, right at the bottom, you can change the race length to long (or extra long).

Long is usually enough to allow you to catch/ pass the drivatars depending on difficulty/ skill level.

Plus you earn more credits. Might mean doing 4-6 laps on a long track or 8 - 10 on a short track but it’s worth trying - I’m finding I like the longer races, less temptation to crash my way to the front in desperation as the laps count down.

Is this for PC only or also Xbox? I like endurance racing so I’m fine doing more laps if I can, didn’t see that option before maybe I need my eyes tested! thank you!

I’m on xbox, so it’s there - although to be honest, had seen a few forum users mention changing the race length and not seen the option to do it - until I was at a mate’s house, showing him the game, he was in tweaking the assists and I was like ah there it is. So not just you, I thought it’d be in options somewhere but no it’s under assists.

Use your mod cards wisely and on the “Long” campaign races or decent length free play as long as you feel comfortable going for. If you do this, credits will come pretty easily. I keep mine stocked so I can pick up the specialty dealer cars that I want. Don’t buy the top level crates either. It’s usually a waste.

Thanks DamMe2006 that’s great, glad that’s a option, shame it’s taken me almost completing every race in the champagne to find that out haha!

Kdogg788- thanks I’ll make sure I use them wisely and not just on every race, I have quite a few VIP cards saved for some endurance racing, whats the best packs to get for mods? the 50k?

I’ve been picking up the 50k crates pretty regularly, the 20k ones can be o.k.

The only issue I have is the mods that require perfect passes - which basically need you to blow the doors off the other guys car for them to count, without any contact and some significant speed differential. I’m usually happy if I can pass the guy in to or out of a corner without contact, checking all the boxes for what the game considers a perfect pass, seems a little hard to meet especially when some of the cards require 8 perfect passes to qualify.

So I’m building up a back log of those cards, which I will probably sell back to the game. When the VIP thing kicks in, probably won’t rely on mod cards half as much - credits flow pretty quickly but the level up cars can sometimes suck your credit balance down pretty quick - although given a choice between 50k credits now or 400k off a car I may need later, well I tend to go for the car.

Ok i’ll try getting some 50k packs in, perfect passes used to be quite easy, so that’s a shame, I’ll probably just see anything not worth my time.

If they ever get round to giving us VIP members more default cash that is? surely its easy to do, obviously stalling to get the most out of us while the game is hot, is it worth keeping my VIP cards to stack onto of that or you think they will rescind them? I’m debating just using them ha!

I’m exactly the same with the cars, I usually feel I’ll probably need the card more and I want to bring up my collection.

Alan has pretty categorically stated the VIP thing is being implemented, so can’t see a U-turn on that any time soon. If you’ve got a back of the pack mod, you can combine that with the perfect passes, to get more chance of getting your perfect passes in. Starting in 12th on the grid, I can sometimes pick up 4 perfect passes in to the first corner but sometimes none - just seems the game requires pretty strict regulations to be met for it to count.

Any hoo, enjoy your racing, I know I am.

Cheers

For car rewards, if you get one you really want but can’t afford at the moment of your level up, or just want to wait, hit Skip (B button). This reserve the rewards for later which you access via the rewards section at the far right end of the main menu. With that you can go collect those cars that are well over 400k discount at a later time when you have the cash or just cash on the 50k then if you change your mind.

Speaking of the 400k discount, know that some car that are marked ‘free’ are not always worth over 400k. Some are worth a lot less, so at times it may be better to get the 50k extra and buy the car later.

On cards, use your stay on track card on circuit like Rio, Long Beach, Prague, and certain configuration of Dubai. Why? Those track have very little ‘off track’ area, so even if you are not that great and bang some wall you will not get trigger for going ‘off track’. On Rio and Prague learn where the small area are and be careful there and there you have it. I am a good driver and find those to be the less frustrating way to stack my On Track card especially with the maniac AI at Pro/Unbeatable while racing on track with many open area.
