A new kind of fast-Project Lemons

Hello! I am a long-time forza player and I am going to tell you guys about a little experiment with tuning I am running called Project Lemons.

The rules are simple: Sell price stock under 20k, higher than class f stock and lower than class a stock, no SUVs. Several special vehicles exempt to the rules have been made.

Some vehicles will have special liveries available for them. Note: All project lemons cars without special liveries have the Advan 3-spokes by default. All vehicles except those immune to the rules will have a Project Lemons paintjob available for free and unlocked by messaging SebastianGM42 on XBOX LIVE. On Christmas 2014, All cars except those that are immune will be auctioned starting at the full price of a stock car with buyout of 45,000 for class D, 50,000 for class C, 100,000 for Class B, and 150,000 for Class A. Class S specials will be given away for free, and all tunes, liveries and vinyl groups I make will all be free for Christmas. After January 1, 2015, all FM4 Online activities from me will cease. All liveries, tunes and cars not bought or given away will be removed from the auction house and storefront.

When the cars have a optimized tune setup, I will post the setup here and a premade one in my storefront. Any suggestions for a car are welcome: it has to fit the rules and be something you wouldn’t expect to see online. The only exceptions to the rule are the Prius, CT200h, Volt and Leaf (which are all WIPs.)

Current projects (the completion rate of the tune is the percent on the right of the cars name, some cars will have a reason why they are a lemon as well)

As a side note, this originally started as a tuning project, but now it incorporates a car giveaway and a livery ad as well. Don’t know how that happened, but this is still about TUNING.

I don’t know why but I always wanted a D class chevy corvair

Note: no DLC, as I don’t believe in it (half the cars I want for this project are DLC, it makes me think more if it isn’t DLC)

Current projects

Class D

Prius v1.0 (one of the cars immune to the rules) 90% done; mostly useless, PI is 350; accel decent, mostly average elsewhere: use with manual for optimal performance

Class C

Leaf v1α (see above description,) 50% done; doesn’t have livery, PI 385 as of now, use with manual for optimal performance

Class B

SVT Focus v1 (Like all non-class a lemons, not tested in multiplayer. Lemon because of Focus RS500 and Escort RS Cosworth) 85% done; handling focused, PI 500

CT200h v1 (See Prius and SVT) 95% done; Good brakes and launch: use with manual for optimal performance, PI 500

El Camino SS v1 (Use on tracks with wide corners, ovals and class B drag, lemon because of non-ute muscle cars) 99% done, Very fast in accel and speed, 2tone.

Mazdaspeed Protoge/Familia v1 (Handling and speed) Most effective class B, 95% done, PI 500

Class A

Hummer H1 v3.5 (Immune to rules: side project) 100% done Designed for racing, jelly/rollover hummer racing and trolling; if pushed hard will flip (jelly part) best race car possible for hummer and good power/weight. PI 526. Comes with special Forza Schoolbus livery

Volt v2 (Immune) 95% done; Gives performance similar to a low-end class B car and can do burnout from standstill, PI 560, use with manual for optimal performance

Gremlin R v2 (Immune) 100% done; Untested in multiplayer; good for drift n drag. PI 592

Saleen S331/F150 v1 (Huge truck) 100% done; longer than hummer, more agile, also good with drift, PI 598

Fusion v1.5 (Sedans, utes, trucks aren’t useful competitively) Fast, Grips better than expected except when pushed really hard, PI 599

All the following Class A are PI 600 and all 90% done (need minor tweaking)

Colt Ralliart v2.5 (The original Lemon), Grippy, sometimes steers in both extremes, good accel.

MR-S v1 (lame-o compared to MR2) Very grippy small and fast.

TSX v1.1 (Glorified accord) Understeer, but good around oval: accel slow but top speed good

08’ Eclipse (a eclipse with the mechanicals and weight of a galant; weighs more than the el Camino tune) Grippy, fast, but don’t push it

JDM Sc430 (Soarer) A better eclipse with supra engine

Class S (these haven’t been made yet)

Sc430 Drift car

Gremlin Drag

Delorean

I actually think that the Prius, the hybrids are best driven automatic, not manual

@DesigningLeek47: The hybrids have 6 gears in manual but auto never shifts past first. Though my tuning setups are currently designed for both auto and manual.

What I’m trying to say is that I think I you can achieve a faster lap time in the Pirus in automatic than you can in Manual - try it?!

Im currently testing that.

Hummer, S331, El Camino tunes will be on SebastianGM42’s storefront.

Sorry, delays due to school. The auto is indeed faster. They are about the same but the shifting slows the car down. I’ll see if manual w/ clutch is any faster.

Now on the Marketplace (all are free), My GT is the same as my username here

Class B el Camino: called PLclassBcamino

Class A volt: called PLclassAvolt

Class A Hummer: called PLracingHummer.

On a sidenote: Two project lemons liveries are up for sale!

Schoolbus V2: 290 Layers, available for HUMMER H1, 100 available, 10,000 credits. Use whatever aero you want and recommended wheels are Outlaw II

03 UK Police Ka: The police livery of a 2003 Focus wagon modified to fit on a Ka. Good for police chases. Recommended you use stock wheels/aero. 10,000 credits, 46 (originally 50) available.

To answer any questions: the hybrids are faster in auto. Manual with clutch is untested.

I don’t understand how any car can be faster with an automatic transmission… You can control the shift with manual to replicate the shifting point in automatic, so at the very least it’ll be the same if done properly.

it’s only the cars with the Continuously Variable (CV) transmission which don’t shift at all in automatic, zero lag.

I will post a lot of finished tunes this weekend. As for the hybrids, they are CVs that don’t shift. Most class A vehicle tunes are designed for handling along with either accel or speed. Those are meant for general racing and tag. Certain vehicles have speciality tuned for drift and drag. Trolling tunes are not being considered ATM. The main testing avenues I use are Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, Bernese Alps, Benchmark Test Track, Top gear drag strips, Sunset Infield and occasional multiplayer events.

Saturday I will post a list of all cars I currently have in FM4 for this project, class and completion. It will be added to the OP later.

Had a bit of spare time today, decide to release list of all considered cars for this project and all special releases atm (at the moment)

All cars by Subaru, Mercedes, Nissan and Mitsubishi

The best and worst vehicles

Best

  1. Peugeot RCZ - Such a good car! Optimized for class A, easy to drive with a gentle learning curve. Decent all-arounder. Good at long and short tracks, a bit slow through road courses and acceleration is a bit slow in 5th and 6th, tops out at 172. Not bad for a I4 with less than 350 horses. Also has a mean growl and a uniquely French look. 0-60 ~5.8-6.3 PI 598 AWD Turbo 6speed.

  2. 2005 Legacy GT - While it is superior to the RCZ in every way, it’s not the best because this is what I expected of what is pretty much a larger WRX STi. A car that’s class B stock will always win over a upper class D stock car. It is designed for max speed and efficiency. It is a master of all trades and a cheap tune. Kinda overpowered. With enough time and track could do 180 mph. 0-60 ~5.3 PI 600 AWD Turbo 6dpeed

  3. Hummer H1-The best overall tune I could make. It allows you to do pretty much anything. Trolling? Check, good accel and when using brakes acceptable handling. Racing? Check. Jelly hummer racing? Check, just turn really hard. Obviously it isn’t the best at any of them as it is a more general tune. Drag and drift shouldn’t be done with this tune. 0-60 ~5.5 TS 155+ PI 526 AWD NA 6speed (don’t use 6th gear)

  4. The Hybrids and Leaf-They pretty much drive the same. Auto is faster than the manual (faster than manual with clutch too) and are pretty ba at racing. At best they are competitive with cars in the class directly below them. Prius is the exception in class D. PIs are 350 for Prius, 385 for leaf, 500 for CT200h, and 560 for volt. All 1/6 speed, NA (Prius and CT200 are turbo) and 0-60 between ~6 and ~10 sec. Top speeds are about average for their class.

  5. Mitsubishi Colt-It’s the original. Enough said.

Worst

  1. The hybrids
  2. TSX/MX5/Cygnet (all A class and completed)
  3. PT Cruiser
  4. Versa

How does that make any sense? Hybrids in best AND worst? Also how in the world did you manage to make a bad MX-5??? That takes some serious effort…

Forgot to save some tunes when I sold the cars. Was a bit busy with the Horizons. Expect tunes for Volvo and Saab cars soon.
