A.I traffic lack of it

Why does the open world seem so empty a lack of a.i traffic and even more so when you see people showing Edinburgh feels like a ghost town has everyone left the uk while the festival is on ? Do you think they will patch this iv seen a number of reviews mention this issue

Have you ever played an Horizon game before? They usually are not hugely populated with vehicles. It would make driving less fun. So not realistic with the traffic but there is enough of it. The best part they’ve finally done is make it so if you are completing a challenge (drift, speed zone, etc), the cars ghost.

One of the biggest complaints of Horizon 3 was there was too much traffic everywhere you went, so it’s probably intentional. What weirds me out is driving through these small towns with the ultra-realistic graphics and atmospherics but there’s no people, feels like I’m in a Stephen King novel.

Hmm all the reviews I’m seeing are saying they have turned down the traffic level a bit too much hope they patch it or give us a slider to change the level off traffic and iv just payed all the horizon games there was a decent amount in horizon 2-3 this one has less then both games

I think that the NPCs made it taxing for the hardware, so they reduced them to the minimum.

I’d love to know were you live. Traffic in real life must be great for you.

When i got Horizon 3 i was pretty disappointed with how sparse the AI traffic was & was hoping it’d be different here.

I’m not saying roads should be completely covered in traffic but just more so then it is now. Especially on the motorways & in Edinburgh, the places that should feel the busiest feel like the most dead.

Even a slider for the amount on PC would be great. The rest of the game is brilliant so it’s a shame.

There was frequently a ridiculous amount of traffic in FH3 for a racing game, and plenty in the demo for FH4. The next step would be minor traffic jams.

Perhaps the reason that my most favorite title up to this point is Horizon 1 is that it was not as much of a racing game and more of a driving game. Personally I get more than enough racing in the Motorsport series and would prefer the Horizon series to be more like Horizon 1.

I completely agree. And if I’m correct, there was no legitimate way to turn it off either.

I remember Horizon 3 pretty well & there’s definitely less on 4. It’s just odd that where their should be more cars, theirs less. Whilst i was disappointed with the traffic on 3, the motorway/highway section felt pretty decent whereas here it feels so empty. But both 3’s city & Edinburgh on 4 feel super empty & poses no challenge & hurts the immersion.

Two points you should consider. Where are you in the game? Are you still in the prologue? Or have you earned your wristband and opened up the actual full synced world? If you’re still in the prologue, the number of people in the full synced game will increase significantly once you’re there. Secondly … the game has not even launched for the entire world yet … the biggest market the game has (US) is not even playing it yet.

I haven’t opened the synced world. But from what I’ve played & seen of the fully synced world there’s definitely a lot less AI traffic. Even the reviews are noting that they’ve reduced the traffic too much.

By which reviewer? I read up on a ton of reviews before preordering several days ago and none of them said anything about traffic, good or bad.

I don’t see why traffic gets seemingly disabled in Horizon Life. I can go on for 10-15 mins without seeing a single traffic car OR human player for that matter. But since you just ghost trough human players if you’re in a convoy, why take away traffic cars completely? The map just feels dead. Makes me wanna just play in horizon solo and go online for the public events. Ironically, Hozion Solo with its drivatars constantly spawning around the player and much higher traffic density feels more alive.

You especially notice this while trying to go for that ‘Thread the Needle’ daily. Two traffic cars at the same time? What is this black magic?

Usually I’d be happy not to see much traffic but trying to get that at night was impossible. Had to wait until in-game time was well into the day before I was able to get that.

The traffic in the whole game feels reduced. The streets of Edinburg are empty as hell, in street races there are just a couple of traffic cars you can find.
Even the amount of countryside traffic feels too small.

You wouldn’t be able to race in Edinburgh if they put tge actual real life traffic

I managed to get one of these but after a further hour last night I’d still not managed to get a second. Even on the motorway the few cars are all politely driving on the inside lane only and never seem to overtake…
