2012 BMW M5 F10 - untunable?

I take great pleasure in spending time doing the tunes for cars, and if I need a break I sample the work of others for a good ideas, or perhaps some of them work just right for me and I adopt them. I’ve done about 100 vehicles so far, and eventually even the tricker cars (I’m looking at the Audis) fall in line and end up maneuvering well in their own way, in the perfect balance of speed and handling. Not only is the benchmark for personal comfort met, but they also remain competitive in online races.

Now comes the M5. This car is driving me up the wall, and no end in sight. I have dumped over 6 hours of fiddling with this vehicle (usually 1-2 does the trick) and used about 30 tunes, and they are all plagued by the same problems. This car understeers horribly and nothing I do, or apparently anyone else does, seems to fix this. The only setups that don’t either 1. Have an unusably unstable back end or 2. Have horrible corner exit speed. Even Worm’s tune, which are usually so admirable and target handling over other considerations, is horribly outclassed by other B class vehicles, getting blown away on straightaways and passed up on corners with 30 mph difference. It’s frustrating me that this vehicle seems so unworkable, and even the top tuners apparently can’t make it work well (for me at least).

Does anybody have any suggestions or a tune by somebody I may not have tried? I’ve gone from B to S looking for a good one and none of them can hack it in multiplayer, and it all comes down to the terrible understeer that requires you to drop speed much lower than other vehicles, leaving you with a car whose only purpose seems to be getting passed.

Up until the fix released today, downloaded tunes were not loading the front suspension settings correctly. It’s very much possible that people have been figuring out the “proper” tunes, but the bug was interfering with the shared file.

Re-downloading the tunes is now required for them to work correctly post fix. What you might want to do is try re-downloading Worm’s, or any other favorites you might have, and see if things are any better for you now.

The original problem was only if you loaded a locked tune that was saved. II you downloaded a tune straight onto the car it worked.

I tested this about a week ago.

With the BMW I find it tough to tune right as well. I can’t remember if I am happy with my tune but it definitely took a lot of time and did not turn out a leaderboard car (that much I can remember lol).

Maybe that glitch was what it was. Never heard about it until today, and now it’s history, heh.

Found a great A class tune that does allow high speed cornering. It’s called A TUNE by icekreem, I can do sweepers without spinning out, slight corners at 115, hard corners at 100. Can do the hairpin on Bernese at 80 in assured stability. So if you were looking for a good one as well Ed, try that one out.

I run the F10 M5 in A Class for online lobbies. I don’t personally find it any more difficult to tune than other cars. I quite like that car, it’s fun to drive. I have thought about working on an S Class tune but lately I’ve been racing what I’ve already tuned more than tuning new setups.

I don’t generally share my tunes that I race with, but if you want to friend me or send me a message I’d be happy to upload my setup for you to try out.

I win with it fairly consistently, regardless of the competition.

Cool dude sounds great, I’ll shoot a request your way when I get back into town.

Looks like I will have to go tune this car to see what you are on about.
