2002 Turbo. A return. (a WIP)

Hey!

So I had this idea. The original 2002 was a fantastic car in its day. Today, there’s been a return of the 2 series with the M2, similarly, it’s a fantastic car.

This had me thinking - generally a dangerous idea.

What would it be like if BMW made a return of the 2002 Turbo? Granted, there’s that weird concept one-off that’ll never happen, but what if it were based… on the M2?

So off I went with my mediocre painting skills, and this (currently a WIP) is what I’m dreaming up. Quite literally, it’s a carbon copy of the original 2002 Turbo design onto the M2 - I lovingly dub it the M2002 lol

Now, I just need to sort the front end out with the reversed “Turbo” and (what will be) the “M2002” logos, address the rear end so it flows a bit nicer, touch up the colours a bit, and it should be all set

Thoughts/improvements are welcome

Dude this is awesome. Love that you brought that simple retro design to a newer model.

I would of said to add the decal to the front bumper are per the 2002 turbo - but there is obviously no space.

Nice work!

Edit: Maybe you could do it underneath the grill and have it curve downwards towards the edges. Then have the front text written horizontal but position vertically?

Thank you! As far as I can work out, I have 3 different options. The question is deciding which will suit the front end better and which will give me the greatest scope for finalising the design with the greatest effect.

The decision is either the red areas, blue areas, or orange areas.

The main thing is that I want to stick as close to the original design as possible, and one of the main features about the original 2002 was that the ‘2002’ and the ‘Turbo’ logos were written in reverse so people in front could see the logos the correct way around - something I want to do for the livery likewise

Ok, the front end is now pretty much done and the rear M2002 Turbo ‘badge’ is now on. Now is just finalising colours and touching up details

Like the concept behind this - looks good :+1:

Very cool idea. My only suggestion would be to match the blue to the original. Otherwise it’s great. I need to really settle down and start working on simple designs like this (even though I know this isn’t something that’s done quickly).

This is still on my to-do list, aswell as touching up the front end and maybe making the rear end stripe a bit more ‘flowy’

I’ve been away on business, and haven’t had time to do that yet :frowning:
