1939 Audi Auto Union Type D WRONG SPECS! (I think)

I’m not sure here, but from two websites the specifications show that Forza is wrong by a mile!

From both websites they say the Dry Weight of the Auto Union is 1873.9 lbs and the other 1874 lbs. Forza says, the Auto Union weighs 2816 lbs, where is the Logic in this?
Does the Average weight of a person weigh 1000lbs? From what I’ve read, the average person weighs 184.3 lbs, so I guess they’re thinking of Gorilla size?

Now, the dimensions of the Car. [Left Forza / Right Real Life]:

Length: 164in / 165.4in
Width: 47in / 65.4in
Height: 44in / 41.7in
Wheelbase: 108 / 109.1

Two Stage Roots-Type Supercharger pressure: Froza - 36.5 / Real Life - 24.2
So using the 24.2psi and 485bhp, without the superchargers the car naturally produces 294bhp. With the extra psi this game says, the bhp should be 730bhp (Approximately) - I think.

Now is it me, or is the specs of this car wrong?
Please can someone tell me if I’m going crazy or if so, why is they so much of a difference?

Small inaccurate details usually don’t bother me but the cars weight needs to be fixed. That’s just Way off! I was wondering why the car drove so easy. Nice find!

Thanks, but I still might be wrong. They might be taking in factors which I don’t know so we’ll when the next updates comes out.

These cars are beyond rare. I wouldn’t take random info from websites as spot on. I would imagine with this things top speed it weighed a bit more. Plus IIRC not every car had the same stats.

One site has the car listed at 1,874 lbs another at 1,681 lbs, maybe a typo?

If anyone is interested in some more background on the car:

It is also the case that a lot of the original cars went missing in the war. I read about one that exists now that was restored but whether it was restored to exactly original spec we don’t know.

I will be judging the car on whether it is fun to drive in the game. I suspect it will be a love / hate relationship lol

Dry weight does not include any fluids or gas what so ever. You mention a dry weight and then say an average person weighs around 185 lbs. Sure, but remember that cars weighed today (ie. Ferrari to name one) that measure in dry weight usually gain at least 500 - 600 pounds when measured “full”. I’m not saying your discovery of an incorrect weight is wrong, I just think it’s not off by as much as you think it may be.

Also, as SNE said, lots of the car went missing during the war, and whatever was reassembled may not be 100% original or correct.

Last, in case you noticed, cars in this game don’t exactly drive like their real life counterparts. Personally, I think that the driving in FM4 is better than FM5 but I still enjoy FM5 and have gotten much further into the tuning aspect and it’s made it very enjoyable for me. As long as the car is driveable and fun, why worry about a few real world-to-game inaccuracies.

The simple answer is Forza is a series where you can upgrade your cars into different classes, so you have to factor in the Pi and other stats to make sure its not stupid fast in a higher class…
This is probably why its heavier, im sure if no upgrades were allowed and we all drove stock cars the stats would almost certainly be correct , i hope…lol
This car is a beast and nice to drive , and is a nice change to that shocker 1.6 rally joke…

Downgrade it to C class and it makes a great Old Le Mans car. 220 mph down the straight, no TCS needed.

My thoughts exactly! What a great car I just love this car first thing I did was take it to Old Le Mans and I was surprised how well it drove, I thought I would need TCS so I drove it that way next I will try it without as I am sure it does not need it as it drives really quite good.

The specs maybe off, oh well it would not be the first time, maybe it is better this way?

Love this car!

Maybe Turn 10 modeled a structurally superior kit car version?

I tuned it to the top of b class and beat my old time on Mazda LS. The car is a blast to drive and in replays you can see no brake lights. Did they even have them back then?
