05' Subarus taking over rival leaderboards my question is why?

Been going around doing some rival events to try and get some good laps and every time I check the top leaderboards for almost any race and any class the damn 05’ subi is usually the Top dog. I just wanna know what’s going on here and if it’s something that will be fixed. I just don’t get it how other top performance cars cannot seem to outlap them no matter what type of race whether purely asphalt or cross or just dirt it still seems to be the best car of choice. The big reason it bothers me is just that I understand yea the subis are great and fast but they can’t be faster than every single car on every single track

probably has to do with the class you are looking in, And there’s some lancer’s also and what not, idk it works the same way in the real world, and when ppl know something is good they often choose to just use the best( personally i don’t believe that what you should be doing in a open world type of game though.(*It;s obviously not as competive as say f6, project cars, dirt, or w.e u fancy.)
Either way the short answer is that there always is a rough optimal build they might be slightly different from another but roughly the same,
And why they are faster is i guess because this isnt really a sim racing game, i find myself cutting corners when i can since u only have to hit the checkpoints, the rest is up to you, Say u see a chicane and u cant cut half of it without driving into anything what stops you?
Idk it’s all i can think off i never been having issues keeping up with these cars in others( usually if im trying to get good time i end up between 100-500 or ome tracks even lower because i will not drive something as hideous as a sabaru ^^ and that is ok, for me as it’s not that relevant.

basically you find more variety in s2 s1 class leaderboards i guess.

In this game its more to do with build than car.

It is just in the 05 and a few others putting the leaderboard build in them works.

The Subarus can usually be tuned for awesome handling too no matter what tyres they have,

Ive noticed this too some tracks its the 04 or 22b but dammed if I can make a suby go as good as they canim guessing leaderboard builds have the v8 swap.and to the guy who said more variety in s1/s2 the subys are all over s1 leaderboards

i guess i just take horizon a bit too serious and ive honestly been looking into getting motorsport 6, i do like the open world part of it but i also like more of a simulation feel to it. it just seems absurd that the subi is overpowered and honestly after buying one and upgrading it i can see why its so good.
